This can include dames, too.

This thread is for all the people who are fully aware of rebuildables (and mechs) but who still love a decent carto tank set-up over anything and everything else. I came here a year ago an eager noob searching for knowledge. I clawed past the clearo stage and finally hit carto tank phase. I have not been happier since.

But lately it's nothing but Kaifun/Kayfun this, Nemmy that, Genny this, what battery is safe, micro coils, cotton, clones?!, Kanthal, amperage, gah. If that's your thing, this thread is not meant for you. If it's not, hello.

I found the most tried, tested, unbeatable, reliable, and truly satisfactory set-up with a regulated mod and a carto tank. I'm not saying this is the best or the only true way to enjoy vaping, but I miss the good old days of only eight months ago where all of this rebuildable shinazzle didn't exist. Eight months and I'm already pouring out old ones for my homies.

This thread is for people who found their perfect setup in a simple regulated mod with carto tanks. This is not a hate thread on rebuildables or mech mods; I appreciate them like I appreciate the Beatles and Nirvana -- while I never liked their music in general, I do appreciate and understand their importance in the industry, and give them proper respect.

So, without hate, please let us humble carto tank people have our day in the sun!

Although I still carry a rugged REO Grand when on the go, carto tanks (on a mech) have become my primary at home solution now that I don't have to use cartos in them! The Diver, Killer 705, and particularly, the Sophia, have really taken carto tanks to the next level. ...and you can't buy better than IBTanked, IMO.

While I mainly use rebuildables these days I still have much love and respect for the great carto-tank! Cartotanks @ 10 watts was THE vape standard in my world not terribly long ago. I keep my strategic stockpile of glistening pyrex and stainless IBTanks displayed like Soviet Nuclear ICBMs during the cold war!

Long live the cartotank!

You know I'm with ya, bro!

I've been using cartotanks for almost a year and a half. Gave the RBA's a try last summer, but found them to be too finicky and time-consuming FOR ME. More trouble than I was willing to give them.

For myself, a simple pyrex cartotank with a good cartomizer is the most consistant, trouble-free juice attachment that I have found. Excellent flavor, great vapor production. No maintanance.

FYI, I use IBTanked pyrex tanks and Ikenvape pre-punched cartomizers on 3 Provari's, an MVP, a Mini ZMax, and Smoktech Gripper. I have over a dozen of these tanks in various sizes. Each tank has its own flavor, which makes changing flavors a breeze.

I understand mechanicals, their machine quality, their contact surfaces, et al., but in the end I don't care much for them. I used to be obsessed with samurai sword collecting, and when I finally got a high-end $1k blade, I said to myself, "This is enough." In the end they're just metal tubes (mechs, not samurai swords). Some are more well-machined than others and I dig the collectible angle, but it's just like any other collectible -- they're only worth money to certain people; all others couldn't care less.

I've tried rebuildables. They do seem to have slightly better taste and definitely better vapor production, but they are for tinkerers. I'm not one of those, so it didn't take long for my IGo L and W to be put aside. I have some Evods and 650mah eGos for when I go kayak fishing or when I need a more stealth device. But, in the end I too am in love my IBTanked setups. I stick a 1.7ohm Smok in a 19mm XL tank on my Provari at 4V and I'm as happy as can be.

Carto Tanks. .... Yeah!

Not much more to say about them.

OK, I will...

There is no more reliable, consistent, tinker free, and satisfying vaping experience than a punched carto in a good tank.
Spend a few minutes priming the carto, insert, fill, set a voltage = weeks of great tasting, warm vapor.

I just don't want to fiddle that much, so while I have looked closely at the Sophia (because of all the great reviews and that I can use them in my lovely carto tanks) it is just too much tinkering.

I have been playing around with the Aspire BDC clearos, and they come close, very close, to the carto tank experience. They do use eliquid up a bit faster, and use the battery up more quickly, but in general, I like them. They seem to bring out a slightly different flavor than cartos. Not better, just different.

I'm a high watt, low ohm, single coil, high nic, tank cracking juice chain vapor. Love me an IBTanked tank with a LR Ikenvape carto on my kicked Stinger. No problem with RBA users but having always to keep them upright to prevent leaking does not fit an active lifestyle. Not even going to mention the ridiculous prices of some of those battery tubes. I choose to devote my money to what goes inside. Good quality juice and batts. But whatever works to keep you off the analogs is the best setup. I'm just trying to "Conquer the Beast" daily. I have my good looks to impress people. LOL:lol:

PS: Would love to see OCD sir finally come out with that 30mm tank. Oh My! :2cool:

Carto tanks. Yayyyyyyyyyyyy!

I've used and own clearos, 357's, drippers, gennys and kayfuns. The one device that's exceeded all other in reliability, ease of use, performance and overall satisfaction is the carto tank. It's what I use when I go out and when I'm at home. Always a carto tank. I love the tanks with stainless steel and fill ports so the Salt n Pepper carto tank is what I stick with. It's the perfect carto tank. It sits atop a real SS matte nemesis with a kick 2 inside. It's an amazing setup.

I do believe more new vapers would opt for the carto IF THEY KNEW about the option to use the 'Diver' 'Killer' or 'Sophia'

The whole reason people go to clearo's is they don't want to be buying and thowing away cartos all the time.

Turns out they end up buying and throwing away atomizers all the time.

People who used to roll their own cigarettes would go for the carto with the Sophia.

I was several months late to using these after they came out and coulda kicked myself for waiting. I didn't get my first carto-tank until 1/12.

Granted back then there were few choices and alot of negative feedback of leaking and sliding around. There were zero filler tools, people were using deck screws and hacksaw blades for holes. And you had to do the nasty deed of unpeeling the labels from each carto- blah. When they finally came out with SS cartos they charged more- and even more for the punched version.

Zero interest in anything else now tho. I have a 6ml on 2 PV's that take me about 5 seconds to fill every other day and my carto last me weeks @75cents apiece. I've only had maybe 3 Boges in that time that were bad- awesome carto at awesome prices.

I haven't been at this as long as some of you old timers. ;). I was a little intimidated by the carto at first, but I VERY quickly tired of clearo's and decided to try one. Best vaping decision I've made so far! I just got my first rda, and I'm looking forward to tinkering with it. No way it replaces my IBtanked cartos though.

    Cheers!

While I normally steer new users towards clearomizers, it's so wonderful (in a perverse way) when they finally see through the crap that is a mass-produced clearomizer and decide to graduate to carto tanks.

At that point, it's up to them to decide whether or not they want to see the carto tank journey through and learn to properly prime a carto and fill a tank. So many people give up in laziness, but the fact is, it's not hard at all and if you had a modicum of self-determination, you'd figure it out. It's just not that hard.

I was afraid of them at first because I didn't understand how to use them, and they muted the flavor of my favorite juice (back then it was strictly MBV butterscotch, and I subsequently learned it had nothing to do with the carto or delivery device, and everything with the juice).

All it took was a trip to my local B&M. The owner showed me how he primed cartos and it was just on like Tron ever since. I will never, ever go back to wicking devices as my primary tank system. I've tried all the rebuildables but the negatives outweigh the positives (at least to me), and to this day I will always swear by a tried and true carto tank.

I just got into cartotanks a month ago mainly from seeing some of the vets expounding on their greatness (Baditude mainly :)). I was steeped in rebuilding my BCCs and dripper so I figured why get something that I need to buy replacement parts for.

Boy was I wrong. This has been, for me, the biggest revelation in vaping. Great flavor, vapor, ease of use and CONSISTENCY. I got an IBTanked and I'm glad I forked out the extra bucks for the quality. I'll be adding to the collection soon.

I don't know why they aren't as popular with new vapers. Just about every hard luck post I see is clearos flooding, burning, etc. If they would put as much effort into learning to fill a carto as they do trying to build a microcoil their problems would be solved.

I'd like to try the Ikenvape cartos but they always seem to be out of stock. I just put my e-mail on their notification list so hopefully they'll have them soon.

I believe clearomizers are suggested for beginners because they are easy to fill and use. The inconsistancy of the clearomizer often doesn't occur until later.

Cartomizers have a bit of a learning curve, mainly in learning to prime the carto initially. Many beginners ruin their first couple of cartos because of new user errors. However, once the setup is learned, then the consisistancy and reliability of a cartotank can be acheived.

Have you looked at the Sophia for your carto?
