SMOKTech DC Tank: Tank=Awesome, Cartos=not so much

I got a SMOKTech DC tank with punched and flanged LR cartos a little over a week ago. First, I gotta say I love this tank! Now on to the point: I hate the SMOKTech cartos. What am I missing? I have read so much praise about these dual coil cartos. They just don't do it for me. It seems I have to hold the button for a full cycle on my eGo to get any vapor at all. Even then it is not so satisfying. I went through one tank with it, then decided to punch a Kanger carto for the next fill. Clouds of vapor from the Kanger (for over a week now, and still working great.) I even tried the dual coil on my 5V box Mod and was not impressed. So What gives? Any ideas?

If those cartos aren't doing it for you, use boge or kanger cartos. I like the 1.7ohm LR Smoketech cartos.

where can one find the kanger or a boge carto that fits these tanks? Or does the tank have to be cut down?

Agree with Scottinboca. I have had the similar experience. Tank is great. Try the 1.7ohm LR Smoketech cartos, aka 'Resurrectors'. The eGo batts work great on these. Check my thread on 'Tank Challenge' DCM vs. Chibo.

I had a problem with mine too where mine was burning really dry to the point it physically hurt because of the heat. I just tossed the thing, myself.

I've said many times, the dual coils just don't cut it for ME on a 3.7v PV for the same basic reasons the OP stated...on higher voltage(5V and up) they can be pretty awesome...on a 3.7v PV, I don't think you can beat a SmokTech 1.7ohm single coil for performance...but, that's just me..........

@Direwolf, I use the Kanger XL cartos and punch them myself. They are longer than the tank, so I split the difference and have just a bit sticking out the top and bottom.

As for the stock SmokeTech cartos (1.7ohm), QC is really spotty. I'm getting about a 33% clunker rating on them but the good ones cook quite well on a fresh 18650. My first lasted 3 weeks of pretty heavy vaping at 3.7v. I'd recommend either buying them in bulk and living with the high number of clunkers or trying the Boge or Kangers.

Yeah, the stock cartos that come with the tanks are terrible. I agree with madjack about using the 1.7ohm single coils, especially on an ego. The pre punched hole is bigger on the 1.7ohm cartos and I think that helps things as well.
