I'm super stoked, I've tried cotton wicks about 30 times at least and always got a cotton taste no matter what my coil was or how much cotton I used.

Today while cleaning up I noticed my cotton roll had a slight smell that was shockingly similar to the foul taste I was always getting ..... Doh .....

It was a brand new sterile roll from Wallgreens but somehow it had let some odors in .... It was just in a box not shrink wrapped or anything so pretty possible depending on what it was next to somewhere along the line.

Anywhoo I just got back from CVS .... I opened the box right in the store to check for any smell .... ZERO SMELL

Wrapped a nice 9 wrap of 28g around a 18g (I think it was the pink one)
Torched and squeezed her nice and tight, installed with perfect placement and shazam .... added new cotton and ..... Nice vape !!

Pretty awesome. Not earth shattering because I'm pretty good at making slica wicks by now.
But 5 bucks for a lifetime supply of wicking mtrl is darn cool. I had just ran low on my original silica order from over a year ago, and the replacment order was not the same as my first.

So its nice to know I have some good cotton and will continue to have the same cotton for 10 years :D

I'll have to meter my coil I wish I went 8 wraps instead of 9 ..........

Now that I know I can get good flavor I will experiment more with different set-ups.

I'm pumped this AVE SweetTart is awesome on cotton .... Yummmmmm

Sure wish my first box of cotton was correct back a few months ago, it would have save a ton of aggravation over here.

Holy freakin heck this is G.D. DELICIOUS I cant put it down ...... All ready have my cotton roll in a ziploc storage bag so it never gets funked up when the wife is blasting perfume or hair products upstairs.

I'm as happy as a pig in pooooo

Does this mean you're happy? ;)

Good for you; sometimes the solution is quite simple.

Uh oh, now it's gonna smell like ziploc.:D

edit: the first few hits off cotton wick are usually muted for me but I do love a fresh cotton wick anyway.

Doh! I am so screwed...

Great news about the cotton, Tim. I can only taste it on the first few vapes (unless I use too much).

I've found that if I squonk a new cotton wick quite heavily and then let it sit. Then squonk it again and let it sit. Do that a couple of times and it doesn't eliminate but reduces the number of poor tastes in a new wick.

Absolutely this.

If you follow this procedure, you will get 1-2 hits that are not exactly ideal, but not terrible. You don't taste the cotton so much as the flavor just isn't quite what it is after that. After 3-4 short pulls with the soaking in described above, the flavor is what you would expect from a cotton wicked RM2, which is basically perfection.

good news about the cotton!

pretty funny, considering that's the term many or most of us use with our 1-2 year olds...

i'm glad to learn that ECF is safe for even newborns, however :)
