i have yet to make my own juice, but have been starting to read about it. I have read, that when making a vg juice, or juices with high vg concentration, that people will add water to it to thin it out because its so thick, but then they lose flavor because there is so much vg. then by adding too much flavor, it thins it out even more. im wondering, can't you just omit the water altogether, and add more flavoring to make up for the high vg content?? if i have this wrong, please correct me!!

Depends. Some flavors are pretty thick, some are thinner. Some are strong, and some are weaker. I make VG juices with 15-20% distilled water and about 10% flavor. I don't have problems with flavors, but then I am not a big fan of very strong flavors anyway. Instead of water, some use 8-10% alcohol, either as PGA or vodka, which work well to thin and bring flavors out. Given the variability of thickness of flavors, each particular DIY can take a couple tries to get right. Best to use volumes for measurements, rather than approximating with drops, since different liquids can have differing drop sizes. I use a syringe. Much more accurate.

I suggest just trying to make something and see what works for you. Everyone's tastes are different, and what some say is delicious other might say has no flavor. I personally think my VG/water juices have great flavor, vapor, and the TH is from nic alone, which I like. I never liked the way PG juices tasted anyway, or the way they dried me out and irritated my mouth and throat.

Good luck!

thanks kurt, i will just have to dive in and see what happens. my concern is wasting money.

You will waste money, but it will be very tiny amounts of money, whereas when you order from a new supplier or try a new flavor, it's not just a buck you waste. Like Kurt says, no matter how much you read, the end result that you want may not be what other people have liked and suggested. One thing Kurt didn't mention is that high voltage mods do better with vaporizing high VG% juices that are thicker. If you don't use 3.7V+ you'll want it more diluted, but if you have a 5V+ you might not need to dilute the VG at all before mixing.

Once you find a VG dilution ratio you like (including flavor) just note down the total % of water+alcohol+flavor, and next time you mix something you can take that % and subtract the alcohol+flavor you plan on adding to get the water you need to make that same total VG dilution.

Very good point, PV! I would include this also with the "true" 3.7V PVs, like the Bartleby, or others that use the 14500 batt. 20% water in juices used on the Bart tends to be a bit too thin. 10% is about right. Your post made me remember that with the newer juices I've made since getting the Bart, I have cut back on the water some. This is with using a normal 510 atty, not HV. 20% water on the reg and mega 510 batts was about right for me.

As for the money, DIY is much cheaper than buying preflavored juices, but you do have to invest into equipment, flavors, unflavored high-nic juice, and VG/PG up front. And it takes a while to get juices right for you. Now, I am hardly spending anything at all on vaping, and I'll be able to make good juices for months for no additional money. I'm certainly well below what my former smoking habit cost, and it is so much more fun...albeit time consuming at times.
