In NC if pulled over with a CC, it is required to disclose immediately to any officer that you are carrying.

The last thing you want is for a cop to find out that there's been a gun in the car and they didn't know about it from the instant they walked up to the window. As a general rule, I don't like startling people who are authorized to use deadly force.

OK, guys, thanks for the insights. I did not know the specific rules about CC permits, but you both make good sense to me.

I hope you remember her car, next time you see it you can roll up beside her with your window down and blow a few clouds her way and wave with a big grin. Let her call the cops again, only this time ask her to wait around for them to show up so she can stop wasting everybody's precious time. I would find pleasure in pressing charges on her for harassment or what ever else.

I was parked at a store, sitting in my car with my brother-in-law, turning the interior into a fog bank. Some old lady pulled up, honked her horn and yelled "I'm gonna call the cops on you guys".

My brother-in-law stepped out, pulled out his badge, and asked her to step out of her car. Then he warned her about the dangers of honking, yelling at, and threatening complete strangers on the street. He told her how lucky she was that he was a cop rather than a gang member who might have shot her. She was visibly shaking by the time he let her get back in her car and go on her way.

I have some of the best times riding around with him in the car.

Oh heyal yea-ugh!

That will have me smiling the rest of the day.

Same here in Texas, although the law allows you to carry a gun in your car "while traveling" without a CCL, and the new open-carry law is about to be signed by the governor. Still, if you're pulled over you're required to inform the officer immediately that you have a gun in the car.

You are likely to garner More respect from the cop When you tell him you're CC permitted and carrying.

They aren't stupid. They know the amount of armed violence committed by permit carriers is miniscule. They also know the
background check involved, how much you paid for the permit and that you probably don't want to screw up and lose it.

We don't have to announce in Fla but I check the laws on any state I carry To. It ALWAYS goes better in those states when
you announce up front. I also only bother IF I'm actually carrying. (Duh)

Oh I've got some great stories from riding around with him. 430hp Mustang, 700 watt stereo, blowing big vapor clouds out the window, and a cop in the passenger seat on a Friday night. Every intersection is a comedy show just waiting to happen.

I just love this--and he's right, too. I've never understood what people are thinking, screwing around with complete strangers. Forget the gang member, they're easy to identify. What about a serial killer like, say, Ted Bundy? Wanna yell at him? Really? :D

I think I have finally prevailed on my husband to knock off the middle-finger salute whenever someone drives in a way that clearly indicates their total stupidity -- just because of the fact that so many have guns, so many are medicated, so many are just plain damn crazy. He's finally conceded that I'm right, that just because he's a former Marine with long hair and a wild beard, someone with a gun and the inclination to use it won't be stopped, that it's best to just keep one's head down when out in public, because you just never know who's ready to shoot up everything in sight. But he still rants at 100dB, even if he doesn't finger-salute them. :D

I dont see why everyone is so down on the Lady She has balls and she did what she thought was right. The OP was doing nothing wrong so he had nothing to fear from the police. It even turned out to be a positive interaction so wheres the harm. I would rather deal with nosy old ladys vs people who do not care about the community they live in.

Off topic of the thread...

There is no longer a traveling stipulation in regards to a non CHL holder with a concealed handgun in the vehicle. Handguns must be concealed and long guns must be in the open. Was changed in the motorist protection act. Another interesting thing is switchblades and balisongs are also now legal to carry.

It's not that she was a concerned citizen that has most riled up, its the attitude she presented when she stopped me at at a light. I wouldn't have minded so much if someone had just phoned the police with a concern but she HAD to let me know it was her as if I was going to sit around after an arrest and dwell on the fact that it was her. I'm all for standing up for the community, just not being a .... about it.

My husband thinks and does the same way. I'm like, honey, I understand that bad driving bothers you and you're a big scary former Ranger…but people are cray, and they have guns, and ain't nobody got time for that.

I don't even go inside banks anymore, if I can help it; drive-thru for me! Plus I can vape there. :D

I've been pulled over by a local yocal but he was cool once I told him what it was just a personal vaporizer for nicotine liquid.
The same happened to me a month or so ago. When he asked me "What's that device you got there?", I just said, "it's an e-cig", because with all the pillbilly's around here, there was just no way the word 'vaporizer' was gonna come out of my mouth..

Remind him of this old saying:

God made man... Samuel Colt made man equal.

No one is a big tough scary person after they've had a half dozen .45 rounds pumped in their chest, and even the scrawniest kid can pull a trigger. I've got an 11 year old niece that has brought down two deer and a 400lb wild boar so far this year, and she's all of 4'10" and weighs only slightly more than a wet towel.
