I admit I probably could have worded it better and been more clear on it. I'm going to go and edit the OP so people will realize that they won't be banned from the PIF thread.

I'm too tired and lack of time to read the whole thread-ATM, but since I often post modding packages in both the regular PIF thread, and the DIY thread, I thought I'd throw in my 2cents.
When i offer the modding "pack" (if you will) I also try and offer up another choice. This gives any one that wants or needs something a choice. I don't have any use for these parts, but I know a lot of people do need them and/or want them. But I also realize that not everyone wants or needs dead parts. So I offer something else as well.
Another point, not everything I put in these packages, is necessarily dead. For instance: I have no idea how to clean a 901 atty properly, nor am i interested in cleaning out a carto. I include these items in the 'modding packages' as well. For someone that is just starting to mod, these are great items to play around with, or pick apart.
If these items were restricted to only a modders PIF thread, I probably would not post them there (possibly, but more than likely..probably not) Also, if they were restricted to the trade thread.. the same thing, as I don't do a whole lot of trading.
Not to say I wouldn't.. but more than likely not, as i usually just visit the PIF, the DIY, and the wants/needs.
Anyhoo.. that's just IMHO, and YMMV.

Leannebug I have always thought thats was awesome the way you gave the option to take either or
many people do not visit the other threads as they do PIF I think if we were to keep posting it in PIF we could do as Leannebug and give options that way if newbies are around who cant benefit from dead or dying parts they wont miss out.thats just my

thanks candy.. didn't mean to call attention to myself, but just wanted to suggest another alternative. (welcome to PIF BTW.. been enjoying some of your posts!)
I came back real quick to mention another thing, and now forgot what it was..lol.. oh yea, I was browsing the PIF thread and tried to read more of this one (read backwards).. On the pif thread, even though it IS a PIF theme, and fabulous, in my mind, MOST people do not 'take' an offer unless they need it. (also the reason for this poll, right) but as I look through the PIF posts, since I last checked in, there are very few that *I* personally need, nor want. I am not a big juice fan, the mg's may not be something I use, the brands, the flavors, the parts (ie: not an 808 cartos user) etc etc. ... so how is posting a modding PIF any different?
I do think it should be pointed out well, so that someone new taking it doesn't mistake it for a working part, just as we try and lable the MGs and the MLs and the pg/vg content, we should be as precise as possible.
and I know, in my heart of hearts, this is NOT about what we can get, but rather what we can give, I still think that is something that should be considered...
Ok, now I REALLy need to get to sleep.. will have some wild banshees jumping on "Aunt Lee" in the morning!

I think leannebug's way of offering parts like these on PIF is and would be an EXCELLENT idea

Modder's thread. That way they can say what they need because I have no idea what modders need!
honestly i say keep it in the pif just if ur gonna offer dead or dying parts make a second offer as well and give someone the choice
I don't use the PIF thread all that often, but I always figured that if you don't want or need the offer being listed, just wait a few minutes it will change.
I'm not understanding what the actual problem is. If you don't want or need something offered, that doesn't mean that someone else might not need it.
Just as a side note, is there any way to put the wants and needs thread back to 2 separate threads? It was much easier to find people who needed something before.

Morning, and I'll put my "ditto" on what JJ said ^^! It was a lot easier to find the "needs" when the threads were separate.
Just to be clear, I am not saying that you cannot offer the dead/broken parts in PIF. This is a way to give more options to someone that might have extra modding gear but needs something else. It's not about restrictions. I wish people would see that we are not trying to restrict things all the time. I am so tired...*just hangs head and slightly shakes it*
The poll is closed but I will leave this open for another day to hear more thoughts if there are any.
For completely selfish reasons I would want it separated as I have confidence in my mixing abilities but none in my electronic tinkering. I also believe the modders would really appreciate a thread that they know they can always find possibilities on; they know a heck of a lot better than some of us what/quantity of what they require, a foreign language to myself. To me, its almost like two languages being spoken in the same thread -- just my from my newbie self.........
