Let me just start by saying I love this site and the folks here.

I first quit smoking back in the late 90s with Zyban. Lasted about three years. Got through 9/11 in DC, one block from the White House and a friend in one of the towers. Didn't smoke. Car accident. Didn't smole. Dad died. Didn't smoke. Bad break up with some idiot. Started smoking.

Now been almost 10 years of intermittent smoking. Months without, then night going through almost a pack. Lots of guilt.

One day a few weeks ago, got talking to a fellow in our neighborhood bar who was using an ecig. Started to get intrigued. Talked to sister. Turns out she is using ecigs. Started to research. Found this forum. Bought a starter kit.

Now believe that I can give up the cigs. Really and truly. Not just hiding. Flat out give them up.

These things are that effective.

Did I find the exact right ones the first time. No. But still trying. And feel so empowered. I have it in me - I now have the tools - to stop the nonsense.

Thanks to all posters for the inspiration and truly valuable information.

Welcome to ECF.
Just remember that it is a process. If you have troubles just post and someone will help you sort it out. Another good thing to remember if and when you "slip" is this:
It is not about the cigarettes you smoke, it is about the ones you didn't.

Well said!!

Welcome to the forum and hopefully you will never go back to "analogs" again. I know now that I've found a combination of devices I like that I actually prefer vaping to analogs. When I come home and my house smells like carmel cappucino instead of cig smoke I appreciate it even more. Many members of my family my wife and I included are now vapors and I thank god for every moment that we are ciggerette free.

Welcome to the forum! I can say that I started vaping a week ago and have had no desire to smoke a tobacco cig since then. It sure is nice to be rid of the smell and harmful smoke. I am still kinda pinching myself that this all works so well. It's kinda too good to be true....Keep at it, you can do it. Someone said something in one of the forums that stuck with me and has really helped. They said don't view it as quiting smoking, rather as "changing brands". I think that every day, and it really helps!

How cool to get such support so quickly. Truly appreciated. I have to say this seems too good to be true. It is just so easy to quit with these things that I am already wanting to reach out to those trapped/stuck in their addiction. Have to be careful not to get too preachy.
a lot of people "accidentally quit" I started vaping in the hopes it would lower my smoking, but found out right away it works for me. I agree that getting preachy about it is probably not a good idea, people tend to resist more. You can't help someone quit smoking unless they themselves want to quit.

YAYYY!!! Good luck!! It's hard to find your right "dosage" right off. Try lower levels of nic first and work up until you find one that does it for you. I smoked Camels and Newports I worked up to 24mg and have been using it since because it works for me. But, if you smoked the same thing and the same amount you might only need a 14mg. You'll find it as long as you don't give up.

legitness. if you aren't happy with your set-up, here are some recommendations of things to adjust in order of effectiveness (but that is only my opinion)

1.) resistance!! This is what makes the biggest difference IMO. Lower resistance -> stronger throat hit & more vapor
2.) nicotine strength -> higher is stronger TH
3.) PG/VG ratio -> PG = flavor, VG = vapor. 60/40 is a great for me!
4.) I had the best luck with Clearomizers! Long wick is more reliable IMO. Top coil -> warmer vapor. Clearomizers > cartomizers > tanks. Cotton-filled Cartomizers seem to have a severe performance drop off half way through and after the 2nd refill.
5.) mAh -> just to increase your battery life

Good luck & have fun vaping! The perfect setup is definitely possible!!! After 2 months of experimentation, I found mine: 400mAh 3.7V regulated mini-eGo + mini viv nova tank clearomizer (long wick) low resistance 1.8ohms + 60/40 PG:VG 14mg nicotine e-juice! :)
