One question about dual and single coil, please help!!

Hi guys,
I have 2 kind of cartomizers
1. 1.7ohm single coil
2. 1.5ohm dual coil

Does 1.5 ohm dual coil equals to 3.0ohm?

That means that there are two 3.0ohm coils and that will equal 1.5ohm total

No it's just two larger coils. More paths to travel equals less resistance therefore when you have two coils it's always less resistance (Ohms) than a single coil. It's just saying that it's 2 coils with a total resistance of 1.5 ohms.

A 1.5 ohm dual coil has two 3.0 ohm coils in parallel. Don't like dual coils myself but you can judge for yourself.

Agree with phanto. 1.5 ohm dual coil = two 3.0 ohm coils in parallel.

Also not a fan of dual coils. Nice idea which never worked out in real life. There's a reason that only Smoktech (designer of dual coil cartomizers) is the only carto manufacturer who makes dual coils.

The reason I don't care for dual coils is that the top coil lies midway in the cartomizer, well above the bottom coil.



As the juice level falls in the carto while vaping, the filler wick around the top coil can become dry and allow the top coil to burn the wick. Since the single coil carto's lone coil is at the bottom of the carto, the above scenario is less likely to happen.

In my experience, dual coils don't seem to make much difference except in a fatter carto (EMDCC). They put out a LOT of vapor!

And, yes, a dual coil 1.5 ohm has two 3.0 ohm coils, but is 1.5 ohms at the connection to the battery. IOW it puts a lot more strain on your battery.
