merely showing primary device preferences as in.. used the most consistently and I also wasn't saying it was second best....just that the sd and the 510 are used far and above the rest.......and as I also stated if he doesn't want to fiddle with batts and the like. The screwdriver may be the best option. ( I just believe favorite device is not the same as primary device) My favorite car is a ferrari, but it is certainly not my primary car.

I do think you are just trying to be helpful here..... But last time I looked at the poles, in regards to the membership here it is a very small sample of the overall population. Yes, it is all we have, but there are also alot of people who don't have time for the reading or button pushing of the polls.

The economy has alot of us busy just trying to make a living and cant spend much time here. And quite possibly there are those who have found their perfect device and won't be back. The point I wanted to make here is that there are just alot variables that should be considered with polls.

So, I'm off to work to make some more money to buy some more TW liquid.

I didn't mean to come across as itchy. Sorry if I did. Thanks for your reply and have a great day!

Where is the cheapest place to buy the screwdriver?

About how many "empty" cartridges and Johnson's Creek tobacco liquid will I need to supply the equivalent of 8-10 packs a month?

There are only two places to get the Screwdriver new:

Screwdriver: ecigscrewdriver.com
http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.com/product.asp?id=85

Sometimes you might get lucky and find someone selling one in the classified section of this forum.

For inexpensive liquid that also has a good following of customers I would suggest the following:

RUYAN Brown e-cigar with 25pc Cartridges - RUYAN e-cigar kit - Heaven-gifts.com Ruyandirect.com Best E-smoking Shop=

www.eastmall.net

http://shop.rockymountainvapor.com/category.sc?categoryId=7

With the potential issues with government approval, I would recommend stocking up on liquid. After you find what you like, many members have reported getting 1000 - 3000 ml.

Should I get the mini or classic atomizer for the screwdriver?

The ONLY atomizer that trog recommends is the 901.

Not to add to your decision process, but you might want to check out the Prodigy from www.puresmoker.com. It is a 5 volt PV that allowes you the option to use both 801 (larger) and 901 atomizers. It does give great throat hit and is made here in the US (TN). The Screwdriver is a 3.7 volt PV. Both do a great job but the Prodigy is more versitile. The Prodigy will probably burn out atomizers quicker due to the higher voltage but the throat hit is about the best you can probably get.

You folks are killing me here. :p

Tee hee! Well you were asking about the Screwdriver. And we are all really just guessing as to what your honey would like.

Sooooooo, I would suggest you go with Pro Street's advise. The manual battery (good vapor and throat hit) of the Dura-C, 501, Titan, Yeti. In my opinion it is the best of the tube type vaporizers to mimic the old qualities of an analoge. Alot will tell you they are all the same. I beleive they are all manufactured to be the same, but some have better warrantys, and some have better suppliers selling them (as in reliable). Get a kit, some extra batteries, some extra stomizers, a PCC, some empty cartridges and some liquid that you think he may like. If he takes to it, he himself can come here and research some of the others he may like to try.

Now asuming you go with the advise you will have to pick a color. More decisions, Tee hee.

Just pick one, make sure you have manual batteries though. Good luck to both of you.

Add: If it turns out he does not like it, they are pretty popular right now. You can list it in the classified here as someone will want it.

Go with the 510. I was a 2 pack a day smoker and the 510 has surpassed my expectations and needs. If your father is anything like mine then a SD will turn him off to e-cigs fast just due to the look of the thing.

Hey Talen:

Glad to hear you like the 510 and it's working for you. Keep it up.

Father???, I thought (old man) was boyfriend or hubby? Tee hee. Which is it Unknown Agent?

My dad is hinting size is important and I have an inkling feeling he will not like the SD because of its size.

Where did you get the 510? My dad was a heavy smoker, but cost has hindered his ability to smoke away (which is good). I would guess now he smokes about a pack a day now (give or take a cigarette).

I want to get him the right e-cig, the right liquid, the right amount, the right package and not leave him high and dry if things start to fail. He doesn't live close so if something fails he needs a backup until I can order more for him.

Can you bypass the battery and smoke directly from another power source? He usually smokes near a power outlet so avoiding the cost of batteries would be even better...

I want to order this stuff already and save my pops. I am getting a headache just from reading all this cigarette stuff. It's a whole new world to a person who has never touched a real cigarette. I know, I have been sheltered in life.

He could use a usb pass through connected to a usb wall outlet adapter instead of batteries. I would suggest the pass through from puresmoker because it has a warranty whereas the all the other pass throughs usually fall apart after about a month or less.

On the size question, the Screwdriver is no bigger than the 901. People who question the size of the Screwdriver have never actually seen one. Remember the 510 batteries are going to cost $13-$20 to replace and they will need replacing quite often. The Screwdriver batteries cost $2 to replace. Here is a picture that might help. The Janty Stick is also a good option:

Prodigy.jpg

The top PV is the Prodigy. The fourth from the top is the Screwdriver. The next to the bottom is the Janty Stick. The PV right before the Stick is the 510.

When it comes to performance, long battery life (8 hours) and cheap batteries ($2), then the only options of the ones above are the Prodigy, Screwdriver and Janty Stick.

Just look at this today..

All parts (Minus the Atomizer/Batt's/Charger) were designed, manufactured, and tested here in the United States of America.

So what exactly is made in USA? The battery casing?

From what Steve has shown on this forum, he uses USA parts for the battery casing, all of the adapters: 801, 901, 510 and the resisters and connections. When you consider that batteries are one of the biggest problems with most PV's, then this is a step in the right direction, not to mention it out performs almost all other PV's.

Do you have a link to that USB bypass? I can't find it.

Secret Agent,

I would second much of what has already been written, and definitely recommend something with a manual battery, like a 510 or a Janty Stick. The battery life on the Janty Stick is a definite plus, but I enjoy the throat hit on the 510 more. I have both of those and use both of them side-by-side all day long. I can't speak for the screwdriver, as I have never tried one, but I do know that screwdrivers have a fiercely loyal following.

I am eagerly awaiting the shipment of my new Prodigy (there is a bit of a back-log of orders/a wait-list), but I'm sure the wait will be worth it. From what I hear, vaping at 5 volts is a knock-your-socks off experience.
