Hello all. I am new to vaping, just started last Monday. Unfortunately before I bought my first starter kit, I purchased 3 packs of analogs. I still have 2.75 packs left...which I guess is a good thing....just wish that I would have spent that $17 on new supplies for the new toy.

I got a 510 kit which came with the manual mega batteries. That was the only kind this shop sold, so I was happy after I started reading that it is a pretty popular and well liked model. Since then I have bought 2 more starter sets (got a good deal from a distributor locally) and more juices. Let me go back a bit...I took my e-cigs (2 from first kit) to a friends house to show her. She is a heavy smoker and has been for 30+ years. She thought I was giving her one of them...which I ended up doing. That is why I got the two extra kits. We both gave one e-cig set up to our daughters (over 18) to try and get them off of the analogs as well. The kids haven't taken to them the way we have.

My friend has not even smoked a full pack since last Monday and I have smoked even less. I would call this a success story. Last night I ordered an ego battery (900 mAh) and charging adapter for it to fit my 510 chargers. I also ordered some of the clearomizers (rev. 5) to try out. I have found that we like the cartomizers better than the atomizers plus cartridges.

I have read a TON of information here for the past week trying to educate myself on all matters. The next logical step is to start making some juices myself. I am a biochemist so I don't feel like it will be too challenging. I am looking for suggestions for some good flavors to try out. I know that flavor is a matter of choice but to give all an idea, I like the chocolate hazelnut that I have tried. Blueberry brandy is OK. I think that I am going to like things a little sweeter and definitely go for things with more flavor than less. I have bought a few juices that seemed very weak.

I also ordered some Ethyl Maltol last night when I placed my order for the clearomizers and ego battery. I think I am going to like the sweetness of it and think it will be an addition to a lot of DIY mixes.

Anywho, first post so 'here I am!'

Welcome and congrats! Your doing so well on your switch. You may want to wait for others to chime in but BE CAREFUL using your 510 charger on your eGO. They are not compatable as far as I know and may cause melting/fire hazards. You always want to use the correct charger that comes with the PV it's intended for. Also charging batts in a frying pan away from flamable items is a good idea. Good luck and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks! :) I forgot to mention that now when I smoke analogs they taste terrible. I am not sure why I keep smoking one every now and again. I sort of get a craving for it then I light it and have to choke it down. Generally smoke 1/3 to a 1/2 and toss it out. This is a good thing though. Maybe it is because I have nearly three packs just sitting here!

Thanks for that info Beans. I might just go ahead and order a charger for the ego. I had read that it was OK but it would need an adapter to extend the part that screws in. One thing I have noticed though in my reading is there is a good bit of conflicting information. Some things I thought 5 days ago, I now realize were completely wrong. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. But I am not going to play around with fire issues. A new charger is well worth reducing the risk of fire!

Welcome to ECF. The Joye 510 and the eGo batteries are a good choice for a beginner. Did you get a charger for the eGo batteries or only a screw on extension to make it fit the 510 charger? I'm not sure what the output (mAh) of the Joye 510 charger is so it may take a long time to charge the eGo battery.

As for mixing your own juices, after you get 5 posts you can post to the DIY E-Liquid forum.

Good luck on your journey to becoming analog free.

Quick question...is that 5 posts meaning 5 new threads? Or just 5 post total. Dumb question I am sure...but I don't want to clog up the new members board with silly threads trying to get to that magic number if it is indeed total posts.

It is five posts. After that you have to wait about an hour for the system to refresh.

When I started vaping this was true, but maybe they have come up with a safe extension. I just don't know. I'm sure some of the vets would know better than me. I do know that in the past there were issues with this.

PS your thread count is good. Have fun posting every where else now.

You can use the 510 charger on eGo batts, but not the eGo charger on 510 bats. The eGo charger will fry the 510 batts. The 510 charger will just take 4 hours or so to charge an eGo batt.

A good way to get an eGo class charger is with the Riva 510 kit for $29.95. You will need some Ego batts to swap out while charging. You will get 2 Riva 510 750mah batts (equivalent to Ego batts), 2 510 attys, an Ego class charger that will charge the Riva batts in 1 1/2 hours, a cone, and a leatherette storage case. All parts (except the charger) will be compatible with all that you already have. To get the 20% off price, click on the 20% off icon at the top of the page and the price will change to $29.95.

Hiya everyone!

I've been a smoker for 15+ years. I've been puffing away almost a pack a day until two weeks ago I was introduced to the wonderful world of vaping. I bought a Ego-T starter kit to share with my partner whose been smoking heavily for 20+ years. The most amazing thing happened: we quit the analogical cigarettes on the spot. Granted, we still reduced to smoking them last weekend when we ran out of proper juice and one of the atomizers malfunctioned. Today, two packages arrived in the post and the merry vaping continues with more fulfilling sensation since we switched from the normal atomizer to the LR one. What a feeling! The smoke is purer, fuller and thicker. What's more, there's more of it. =) I truly do reccomend this habbit to anyone interested in prolonging their lives and wanting to inhale something other than just air.

In Finland, vaping is not very common yet but I have a strong feeling that as soon as people get wind of this they'll embrace this habbit like nothing else. I hope our government will also see the light eventually and lift the ban on selling nicotine juices. I'd like nothing more than to pop into my local store and buy a bottle of my favourite liquid when ever I feel like it.

Puff long and prosper!

Thanks for the information DaveP. I will check this out. I placed an order last night and just got word it shipped...might need to wait a few days to spend more $$$. I know in the long run it will be cheaper than analogs but to this point I have spent roughly $300 in a week! The more I learn the more i spend.:blush::blush:

Hi there,
I, too, just started vaping and OMG I think e-cigs are going to save my life. I have been a smoker all my life with a five year break when I smoked between 0 - 5 cigarettes per day, but two years ago troubles started piling up, unfortunately, and I went up to smoke about 1.5 packs a day. I didn't do any research, just got an e-cig kit from a local vendor, from a brand called: "EON SMOKE". Since the vapor seems not strong enough (I can't compare), what e-cig brand would you think is the best and could recommend to a vaping novice? Thank you.

Emma Marie, what a great feeling, right? I ordered my kit online after a friend of mine's father was smoking one... Got some advice here about the type to buy, and knew when I hit "place order" that my cigarette days were over! I purchased a RIVA UNC from liberty flights mainly for long battery life.. 1100 mah I think.. I then purchased a eGo-t from a local shop as a backup.. Both last more than a day, so I charge em every night, and good to go all day with no worries.. If you don't care about it looking like a cig, they are both solid starters.. Good vapor, nice taste, and quite fulfilling!

Hi Sharpi,
Another noob here.
I had 5 packs when my eGo-t arrived. I immediately gave them to another smoker, just to get them out of my possession and avoid the temptation. Every time the craving hit, I chain vaped till the cravings subsided. It's been 5 days now and only smoked one analog a couple days ago out of curiosity. You are right, after a few days of vaping, the analogs taste terrible.
Happy vaping and good luck on your switch.

Congrats to all of the analog droppers here in this thread! I as well dropped the analog habit last Saturday. I must say, I originally was introduced to E-Cigs via a mall kiosk that sold "Smoke Anywhere" automatic battery e-cigs. The vape was horrible and the batteries were more frustrating than leaving home without a lighter.
I recently saw a friend vaping using a 510 box mod from Mad Vapes. With his guidance, I purchased the same and started vaping with much success. Haven't touched an analog since and I am LOVING everything about vaping. I have found some great juices already in the last week(Pinkspot, Zikwid, & FreedomSmokeUSA).
I am amazed that there isn't a prominent e-cig retailer in Las Vegas that I have found yet. However, there are plenty of resources here in the forum. I have learned more in the last week from all of you that I never would have found looking around locally.
Keep trying new things and sharing your success stories!
