I would like to know what a "knock-off" PV is?

Here, this is a "knock-off" PV: :)

Sorry, it might resemble the provari but it's not a copycat. I own both mods.

How about we just agree that we have slightly different definitions of the words "knock-off" and "copycat"? Deal?

(And of course, I've been referring mainly to looks, and not functionality, where the two are of course markedly different. Being very familiar with both devices' electronics, I will gladly grant you that point, if in fact that was your point).

(Coulda/woulda/shoulda put a "smiley" in post 68, now remedied). But did you see the beginning of the PBusardo review? That's what i was referring to, as well as the obvious fact that they do look strikingly similar.

Are you just naturally rude to people? I only asked a simple question and don't need someone telling me I'm wrong when I'm not. I don't see how you consider the vmax a knock-off....even appearance-wise they aren't the same.

My, my ... I try to be conciliatory, and look where it gets me. No, I am not naturally rude to people. This is not a black-and-white issue, with one of us "right" and the other "wrong" about whether or not the ProVari either A) Did or B) did not provide any "design inspiration" to the good folks at Smoktech.

That said, you might get a lot of argument about your view that "even appearance-wise they aren't the same". The exact "same"? Of course not. Strikingly similar? Arguably yes.

Food for thought:

"I only asked a simple question and don't need someone telling me I'm wrong when I'm not".

It could be said that I just made a simple observation, and then you told me I was wrong. I don't see a large contrast between our respective conduct. (?)

Now please back off.

I'm not the one wanting to argue. I just want a straight answer...what makes you think it's a knock-off?

Edit: I see the VMax as a knockoff because in both form and function it is *extremely* similar to the ProVari - Not like a LavaTube, not like a Buzz Pro, not like an SVR, ONLY like a ProVari.

One of the sad things about this discussion is that (speaking for myself) the ideal PV would be variable wattage...but dependability is a huge factor - If I trusted my LT to perform for another year, I wouldn't be in the market at all. The Kick is awesome, but I just don't trust it to be reliable. And I won't be taking a Darwin to work in my pocket. Not happening. For me, my next PV has to be bulletproof, which brings me back to the ProVari. I am *almost* ashamed to say that, come July, I'll be spending $200 on a VV battery housing. <Waiting until July because that way I won't blow my June vaping budget into little teenie pieces, and feel the sting of Catholic Guilt.>

I just hope to God I don't start showing the thing off to strangers on the street, and emailing photos of it to all my friends. They have laws against that sort of thing. Of course, if I do fall in love with it and start proselytizing on these boards, Sailorman will (hopefully) be around to keep the crazy in check.

Oh, and about the VMax - as near as I can tell, it's functionally every bit as slick as the ProVari, but, again, I don't trust it to last (forever). Ah, well. ProVape may soon get some of my cash. Argh.

I think I'll see how long I can keep telling people that my main PV is still my LT. I mean, that'll be *easy*, right? It's not like I'll want to brag, is it? Yeah, actually, I just might want to. Big time. And that really IS sad.

Did you know that prior to the completion of the Great Wall of China during the Ming Dynasty in the 14th century AD that the country was actually protected by a Great Wall of Text? True story.

Just have to say that if it's reliability you want, then I think the Provari is the way for you to go. From what I've heard, it's about as reliable as the HAL 9000 computer (although when he screwed up, it was a doozy).

I've said repeatedly that the ProVari is my "stranded on a desert island" choice. Insanely reliable, can double as a nightstick, American made, and just NICE.

I've had my oldest VMax only a couple of months; a few hard knocks, and not a hiccup, but it has a LONG way to go before it proves itself to be as rugged and reliable as a ProVari.

I applaud your choice, and wish you "Bon Vape".
