In my head, the e in 'Bon vape' gets an accent. It sounds hilarious. I am WAY too easily amused.

Anyway, yeah, for me, I think everything is settled. The, uh, "Brand P" device for me, and my wife will soon vape a Silver Bullet. Her Vivi Nova/eGo combo keeps tipping over, and the thing just looks ridiculous.

Nope, you're dead wrong. And I'm ready to fight about it. ;-) :D

OK, that does it - no more Mr. Nice Guy, put up yer dukes and prepare to defend yourself! :)

I wonder what it is about vaping stuff ...... no, scratch that - I just remembered back to my time on the world's leading tractor forum, and the Kubota vs. John Deere vs. New Holland vs. Mahindra vs. Kioti vs ............. and on and on and on and on, where everyone else's tractor was junk and yours was the best one ever made. I never made such a claim, of course, [who, moi? :)] but I remember one VERY interesting thread where moderator made the statement that "the John Deere 4520 is superior to the Kubota L5030 in EVERY way". Ever tried reminding a moderator of a forum rule against "mindless promotion of your brand"? It's fun, y'all should try it! LOL (No, I did not get banned) :)

I think these are tough times in general, with the country very divided and facing some tough times, and some very different ideas on how to get through them. Maybe some of that unrest and worry spills over into discussions about just about anything under the sun, and not just politics (which I will not discuss here, other than to mention the word).

I do think that the best way to discuss anything is without judging or labelling, and to make sure that we don't let our anger get the best of us. Just say what we like, what we would like, and why. And say it in accordance with the Golden Rule. (Speaking of that, I retract and apologize for my "LOL" earlier. I do not like receiving those, and should not have given one).

ON TOPIC (YAY):

Trollkin, you mentioned variable wattage, and what I would like to see are all of our favorite VV APV's incorporate variable voltage AND variable wattage in the same device. Since they can already determine the resistance of the atomizer they're powering, it doesn't seem like "rocket surgery" to take this next logical step. Anyone out there have any thoughts on the "do-ability" of this, and/or share my opinion on the desirability of it?

A knock-off is a down dirty cheap, exact copy of an original product. Some knock-offs even have fake logos and brand names.

It's just silly to call the Smoktech Vmax a knock-off of the Provari, whatever Pbusardo wants to imply. Sure, Smoktech stole some styling elements but they did it with their own spin. Emulation is the best compliment, you could say. Follow the leader. This happens in any industry. How many automobiles copy style elements from the top selling cars? Most of them.

As far as I can tell there are some big technical differences between Vmax and Provari. With similar battery configurations the Vmax is a lot less expensive. I really like the features, the lights, the menu, the three-digit voltmeter and the performance specs of the latest Vmax. If I head toward VV anytime soon I'm leaning toward choosing Vmax. On top of everything it just looks cool.

Durability issues? I haven't read much slamming the strength of either. But face it, Provari and Vmax are coffee table APVs and they aren't going to be carried around in pockets like some smaller and truly durable APVs on the market.

Well, I suppose it depends on one's definition of the term knockoff. And Phil Busardo's opinion is his own, not mine (although I think he's awesome, I disagree with him constantly). I don't mean to add fuel to any sort of fire here, but, silly or not, my opinion is unchanged. But hey, if we all agreed all the time, we'd all be bored to tears.

*** Oops - posted before I realized that Classwife dropped in to say hello. Well, you know what they say - it ain't a party until the cops show up! :) Maybe this will pass muster with the proprietors of this fine establishment. Let's find out together, shall we? ***

It's just silly to call the Smoktech Vmax a knock-off of the Provari .... sure, Smoktech stole some styling elements .... Emulation is the best compliment .... Follow the leader. This happens in any industry.

If I were inclined to use "judging" type speech (which I certainly am not), like calling something someone did "silly" , I would also be inclined to say it's "silly" to say that someone is engaging in silliness for calling the VMax a knockoff of the ProVari and then go on to say "sure, Smoktech stole some styling elements .... Emulation is the best compliment .... Follow the leader", and the like.

[I left this part in because I think it's critically important to effective communication that judgments of any kind be refrained from when conveying one's idea or desires. "Judge not", and all that. Plus, it works wonders as a means of not alienating the recipient of the judgment (Nietschze: "When I alienate, I cease to influence"), and it's also very "Golden Rule friendly"] (Then crap, why do I stll feel a ban coming on? lol)

Yes, I believe you are quite correct that the term "knockoff" more correctly applies to things like a fake Rolex, or an imitation Louis Vitton suitcase that is made to look exactly like the real thing to the extent that it will fool many people into believing that it is the real thing. That clearly is not the case with the VMax. But I did already acknowledge that, and if this was football, we might just see a penalty flag for "piling on".

I do own three Max's, soon to be four (a chrome one). I obviously like them very much, and understand and forgive the motivation behind "borrowing" some design elements from ProVape. The ProVari is gorgeous. That said, I am very aware of the distinct differences in functionality. Two 3.7V batteries let the VMax dole out power using a completely different kind of circuitry that has certain arguable benefits. (Due to the current lack of high-capacity 18350 IMR batteries, battery life is unfortunately not one of them). The display and menus are great, the button is great, the "fit and finish" are good, the 510 connector itself is great (excellent contact with any device I've tried on it, and excellent draw), and the voltage control through the discharge of the batteries seems to be very good. (In fact, I'm feeling compelled anew to tell the OP to buy a chrome one tomorrw LMAO)

There's an EPIC thread on the VMax that I'll link to as soon as I locate it.

Found it:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...385-new-variable-voltage-device-smoktech.html

Seventy-seven pages of thrills, chills, and spills - and a HUGE amount of info on the VMax.

*** There is absolutely no correlation (that will stand up in a court of law) between my extensive participation in that thread and its unfortunate closure ***

Peace out/vape on all :)

Every e-cig is simply a variation of the other! I have a Provari and love it! The Vmax it is also a solid unit! I suppose we could say every ecig is a knock off or variation of the original. How many times can one reinvent the tire? My point is... a little change or modification is what keeps things moving forward! Sometimes modifications make a product better, or more affordable! As the consumer, we find the product that meets our needs and peeks our interest! Like automobiles, most will get you from point A to point B! What is better may be increased gas millage, better price, higher price better quality!

Anyway...glad to see ever more options for fellow vapors! :)
