Well, I'm not quite sure what is going on but I had a discussion with my letter carrier this week since I had a parcel with an 'expected delivery' of Monday July 4th (sent last week from HV) that has yet to arrive. The status has been stuck at "processed at Halifax" since Monday night - it
should have been in my hands Tuesday morning

!
My letter carrier (very nice and pleasant fellow, btw) said that he noticed a huge backlog of parcel post at the plant that has yet to be sorted. He said that they are not being allowed any overtime to get through the backlog and that even lettermail is being delayed because the carriers have been given a limit of 3 trays per day (he mentioned that many carriers have as many as 6 trays for their routes) to ensure that they cannot claim overtime.
So, I don't know guys...from what I'm hearing, it sounds like the corporation is set and determined to 'teach these guys a lesson' - they lost 2 weeks in pay and someone is making sure that they have no way or opportunity to make that up.
I agree with you that these photos look like a forklift incident...it makes sense if there is a huge backlog that they're not being allowed to clear (through overtime) and new parcels are pouring in, there is only so much space in the clearance warehouse...in this scenario I can imagine parcels falling from their perches often -- must make for a very hostile environment between workers and management with these restrictions in place.
