Added in the order "is is possible to get the cartos pre punched?"

Do they already come prepunched?

If they come unpunched, what is the best way to punch a carto for the M1A1? I see people talk about using the self tapping water line tool from BestBuy for about $4

I own a drill, and a very small drill bit, and can probably rig a jig to put a hole in them.

Ark you can drill the hole but be sure you go just enough to break thru the carto. If your bit goes any deeper you'll have all the stuffing wrapped around it lol.

If you want to use a saddle valve this is what they look like. Lowes or Home Depot has them for about $6...easy peasy.

so, my tank arrived today, so far, I am very impressed, but have a question or two

I followed the video, using the same tool. I heard no sound when the pin pierced the carto, so the hole ended up quite a bit larger than depicted in the video.

on the first fill, it appears that about 1/4 of the volume of the tank went inside the carto. Am I correct in assuming that this was just wicked into the polyfil? I am not hearing any gurgling sounds when i take a draw so it doesn't seem like there will be any leaking issues.

Now, I just need to go get a syrenge with a needle to refill it. I was able to do the initial fill with a dripper bottle, but that won't work now that air cannot flow through the carto.

Yes, I get a big drop on initial fill, unless I've separately primed the carto, no biggie.

Either syringe or top fill (pull drip tip off (good time to rinse it), loosen screw, slide the carto down, fill in the main opening in the carto top cap, slide the carto back up when you're done, replace drip tip). I do the top fill, would feel slightly silly schlepping a syringe around just to fill a tank :) Just hold the carto/tank at a little angle, and a 6ml dropper bottle works fine to top it off (at home, night, I'll actually refill off my 60ml DIY working bottle, but I've been doing this a while).

thanks mark. it has been standing up for about an hour now, the liquid level stabilized, and there is no gurgling sound when I take a draw.

I suspect that I will continue taking my roughstack when I go out for a day. I found that my Buzz in my pocket at work will fire, and I burned up a carto last week. I work from home, and that is where I will be 90% of the time anyways. Besides, If I am going to drop a mod on concrete, I want it to be my Roughstack..

If I do take my Buzz with me, I will likely leave it in the cup holder of my car, and doubt that I can empty a 3ml tank before I get back to the house.

By the way mark, is that an australian shepherd in your profile picture? Good looking dog.

Ark, glad to hear you're enjoying your tank so far! If you decide to use a syringe and the fill hole, order an 18guage size needle for it, blunt is safer but I have a sharp. That size fits in the screw hole with room enough for the air to escape as you push the juice in. I use a 2" length needle to make drawing up a syringe from a 15ml bottle easy.

Oh, and as far as not hearing the "pop" on your carto, I noticed the same thing on some I punched the other night but the bigger hole hasn't made any problems for me :)

Mark, Sidney is beautiful, I'll have to sneak over to "that other place" and look for Heidi ;)

If i can't find a blunt one, I will take the point off it with a file. I usually just turn the bottle upsidedown, and draw it like i would an injection, that has worked well for me in the past, and the size of the bottle makes no difference, and as long as I am drawing into the syrenge, there is no leakage.

I just ordered the 1.5 M1A1 and have a quick question. Am I supposed to get the regular or xl dcc for this? This is my first tank and I'm a little clueless right now. Thanks!

from M1A1 Buzz Tank - notcigs.com
1" tanks are for regular size carts like a Boge 35mm or 1.4" long , the 1.5" tanks os for XL types 50mm or 2" long , the 1.5 " is approx. 5 ml juice storage the 1" is approx 3ml juice storage.

1inch tank uses standard cartos
1.5inch tank uses XL cartos

Curious did you get your M1A1 with or without the set screw? Any reason as to why or why not?
