Hey guys,

First post here, never tried the e-cig before in my life, I'm from Canada and they are pretty much unknown here...

I've been struggling with trying to quit smoking for years now and I have wrestled the beast in every other way but this.

I just happened upon a video on youtube by TGITF or MoobyGhost as he's known on here, and I was amazed by the idea of vaping, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Anyway after a lot of research I decided to try the vapor king by Vapor4life, and so today I ordered the ultimate ultimatum kit, but I noticed that there were no options on the order page for strength of liquid or flavor choice, and the colors of the gear in the kit didn't include black for some reason.

I always see people vaping on black VK's in youtube vids, but didn't have that color option when I ordered, weird...

Anyway, I sent a message with my order specifying what I wanted...(it's really cool that the company allows for this)...but I thought I would bring it here because there are reps here that answer these questions?

I wasn't sure if this was an actual company board, or just a seperate place on the forum for people to talk about this vendor.

But I also wanted to ask other members what they thought would be a good flavor and strength for me because you guys rock and I'm a total noob...lol

So I'm like a pack, maybe a pack and a half smoker, and I smoke Canadian cigs, John players, Du Maurier, Export A etc... But I like American brands too, like Winston, Marlboro, Camel...I like the more popular tobacco flavored cigs...

Do you know of if Vapor4Life has any flovor that would best match these brands, what are you vaping that tasted like tobacco?

And the strength, what is good for a first timer who smokes about what I do?

I'm so lost on all this...

And I was curious about how you guys got the cartomizers that you wanted when you ordered from this company? Did you just shoot them an e-mail, or did you deal with a rep on this forum or something?

Well as a first post I must say that I am glad that I found this forum, it answered so many of my questions and I really hope that vaping is for me...it seems like so many of you are former smokers and that gives me a ton of hope.

Thanks!

First things first. Welcome!

I went through several different PV's before I found the Vapor King. IMO, you chose the best first time out.

While this forum is sponsored by Vapor4Life, it is open to anyone. Almost everyone you see here is just a satisfied customer. You will quickly get to know the regulars.

The tobacco flavors is a good place to start, but you might find that your "IT" flavor is something else.

I like the Cowboy (Mboro), Kamel, Hilton, & (to a lesser degree) Kant. To me, the Kant has that "freshly mown grass" flavor that I got when I smoked a Winston.

Nic strength, like flavor, is very subjective & each person is different. I smoked for 40 years. For the last umpteen years, I smoked ultra-lights. However, I've been using 24mg strength. I am not typical of most on here, so wait for more input.

Again, Welcome!

Hey thanks so much...

lol@"freshly mown grass", I almost know what you mean...I was just checking out some of the other forums on here and I think it's awesome that the regulars here are so helpful...

So it's sort of trial and error for finding the exact thing you like huh?

I can understand that, it seems like ex-smokers that have moved onto vaping to quit or even just vaping instead, they seem to start off with nicotine flavours but then over time to move into all sorts of other flavors too.

I think that's a good sign if you are trying to quit because you can also wean yourself off of the taste of a cig too.

Maybe I'm wrong, but that is interesting to someone who just can't seem to go an hour without that taste...I've come to really expect the taste of a cigarette, it's seems like it would be weird to have a whole bunch of different flavors there.

Welcome!!! I smoked Kool's for 40 years, 1-3 packs a day. I like the menthol, mint, kamel, cowboy flavors. I'm not excited about fruity or candy types. maybe down the road. I like the ease of the VK, mostly use the PT. Good luck in stopping the cigs, I haven't had 1 since I started with my first e-cig which was a 510. 3 months and counting, and feeling so much better.

Welcome Foster! I too thought I would only like the tobacco flavors, and I still do, but some of the others are really starting to taste good. I was an ultra light cig smoker and I like the 18 mg strength, but have some 24 on order to test. My advice is to get an assortment of different flavors and strengths, and try them. If something doesn't taste good put it aside[ don't throw it out!] because you will probably like it once your taste buds start waking up!
Take it slow and don't beat yourself up if you don't stop smoking completely. Vaping is a learning curve so do it at your own pace. Hope you have a great experience!

Welcome! You will more than likely become addicted to this forum and will quickly get to know all of the regulars.....its kinda like a family after you've been on here for awhile! Do you smoke menthols? If you do my personal favorite is the mboro(cowboy) menthols.....all the others are good also, like the nuport and cool flavors but the cowboy menthol is my favorite menthol so far! If you want to go for a non-menthol taste the parliment and virginia are very good. The french pipe and 555 flavors are good too but have a pretty strong taste to them! Like you said it is a lot of trial and error to find "your flavor" but when you do you won't want an analog cig anymore! And a lot of people start off thinking that they want something that tastes the most like a regular cig but as you start vaping more your taste buds will start to recover from the years of smoking and you will more than likely move more towards the fruity or beverage flavors! Hope this helps!!!

Welcome to the V4L fold, Foster! As everyone has already posted, flavors & nic strength are different for everyone. My boyfriend smoked Marlboro Lights (1.5 packs/day) and the Hilton at 18mg is the flavor he likes best. I was smoking 1.5 packs/day of full strength menthols for over 30 years but I found that the coffee and cappuccino are my go to flavors (mint is very nice too). Typically, V4L will throw in samplers if you leave info in your comments about flavors that you are interested in trying. It may take a little while for you to find your "it" flavor - take the time to experiment a little, don't be afraid to try the flavors out, you may surprise yourself. Enjoy & again, welcome!

Wow, awesome rsponses, this really is a good forum.

It's kinda suprizing to se so many people on here have moved away from the straight nicotine flavor, but then again it's not the best taste in the world right...lol

I remember being repulsed by the smell and taste the first time I tried a cigarette, man it so gross to me but I was just a kid, like 13, and it made me dizzy and I thought that was cool, so I kept doing it.

Dumb, eh?

Now 20 years later and more addicted by the minute, I crave that taste so much, it's hard to remember a time that I was turned off by it, but it is really not as nice a taste as fruit or chocolate or something.

I have a feeling that I'm going to actually quit this time though, I realized from previous attempts that half of it for me is the motions, so this should fill that void.

I like the Marlboro flavor, is it Cowboy? I'm not sure. I hated French Pipe though, we're all different :)
I vape on 24mg all the time, I have 1 bottle here that's 18mg and that"s an occasional vape for me :) 24mg is the sweet spot for me but for others it's too high. Get a nice variety :)
As for asking about colors and what not, the comments section on your order is where you should ask, they're very good about getting you what you want from those comments. You can also go and PM Smilin, he is the owner of the company, or Doshma, who works with him, on this forum :)

Welcome!

I am relatively new to vaping, but quickly learning. As many others have stated, you're lucky to be starting out with the best PV (ecig) on the market, IMO - also the best customer service I've ever received anywhere.

Anyway, I believe the most important thing is to learn your personal nicotine strength. I started out with 18mg and 24mg (Totally Wicked Titan 510) and I waaaay overdid it, felt sick from too much nicotine for 48 hours. It sucked horribly and I worried that I just couldn't make vaping work for me.

So, when I ordered my VK, I decided to start low - 8mg and 11mg and I haven't looked back. I now constantly vape 8mg, but in the morning I'll vape 11mg for a while to wake up. This works very well for me. I was a pack a day Camel lights smoker.

I think everyone is turned off by different flavors at first. I thought I'd only like tobacco flavors but quickly learned that I didn't. There are some great tobacco flavors out there, as many here have already mentioned, but I'm more keen on the coffee, coconut, bud beer flavors right now. Green Tea is also quickly becoming an "all day" vape along with Chocolate (holy crap! so good) and I tend to carry a variety with me everyday. I'm also warming up to the fruitier flavors. As my tastebuds returned I discovered a whole new world of incredible vape flavors.

Anyway, I truly hope the VK works for you and I am confident you'll love it. Most importantly I hope it gets you off cigs and keeps you smilin.

Please feel free to ask as many questions as you need to, browse the threads and soak-in everything. This is an awesome community and I don't know what ecig I'd be using now, if any, had it not been for Steve and this forum. I still feel a need to thank folks here often. Everyone is amazing!

Happy vaping!

Welcome to the forum and this subforum!

Like others have already said, everyone is different. I smoked around 2 packs/day of lites. I started with 18mg, but it wasn't enough for me. So I moved up to 24mg. I also used the 36mg occasionally. Now after 2 months of doing mostly 24mg, I am stepping down to the 18mg.

So I suggest that you try both the 18 and 24mg. Or you might want to start with 11 and 18mg. And get at least 2 different flavors to start. Eventually you will want to try more. Like suggested already, if you don't like a flavor, just keep it and try it again later. A lot of the flavors I tried at first I thought I hated but discovered later that I really liked them after all. Your sense of smell and taste will start waking up almost immediately. Within a month of vaping, if you are like most of us, you will start tasting and smelling things that you haven't noticed in years.

Again welcome, and good luck with your new vaping experience. Glad you found V4L for your first e-cig -- most of us started elsewhere and migrated here looking for something better. :)

Did anyone mention Cuban Cigar or 555 yet? They are tobacco-ish, IMO, sort of a "transition" vape. Both are at the top of my list and have been for a couple of months.

I usually go for 24mg, but I try to tone it down at night because higher nic may be what keeps me from sleeping soundly (my theory, might not be true for others).

My husband vapes 36mg most of the time and still *thinks* he needs an analog now and then. Just another thing about men I'll never figure out, I guess.

For bigger financial benefit, you'll need to refill. See kc's video stickied on this forum for the best explanation and then tweak as you see fit. I figure it costs less than 50 cents to refill, and if you are careful not to over-vape a carto, it will last a long time. I have refilled most of mine more than 10 times and they are still going strong.

Good luck with the VK!!! I'm pretty sure you're going to love it. :thumb:

Thanks, yeah I did watch a few video's about refilling the carts, it seems like a much cheaper option, maybe I should add a few of the liquid refills to my order, I've been talking to people about it and everyone in my family who smokes is getting excited to try this thing.

Seems like I made the right choice the first time, seems a lot of people vape with a bunch of others and then upgrade to this one, I'd rather spend the extra money and do it right the first time.

I think you'll love the VK. I started with it so I don't have a lot of experience on other PVs, but the 2pc convenience is far too much to ever give up. And if you treat your cartos right, they'll last a loooooong time.

On a slightly off-topic post, any chance of us getting a high-voltage VK? I love the vapor and hit of the PTs and would love a chunkier batt at a higher voltage. I guess if it doesn't happen I can always hit the work bench and see what I can come up with...
