Well, I feel for u guys and gals in Oregon, good luck and have many good vacations accross the border ;). So... sweet! maybe this is a states rights issue, I can dream, but that would be better than the fed acting. Im in NY, and hate it here more and more. Sure as poop this will be one of the next states that do this ban, and id love to move someplace else anyways. This would weed out other states and help me in my choosing where to go lol. My guess would be Texas, only time will tell :)

Isn't Pot just about legal in Oregon? It's crazy!

It was heading that way, but that movement has been pushed back a bit. We've got some pretty ridiculous smoking laws in place now too, not to mention unenforceable in the first place.

Hell, cops here will double cite you for littering if you happen to drop a cigarette ...., but bar owners and businesses aren't allowed to have ashtrays within ten feet of any door, so you get screwed coming and going here :\

This only affects businesses in OR from selling. It can't affect anyone there from buying outside the state. Even if they had the right to open your mail what are they gonna do, open every package that goes through the post office to see whats in it? If more and more states start going this route the suppliers will have to stop selling and that's when we really start getting screwed. It still amazes me how they allow cigarettes to be legal which are known killers and they ban the e-cig. How stupid do they think we are when they say it's for our protection and not about money?

True Dat.

Yep - Blue laws and dry counties have done SOOO much to stop drinking here along the Gulf Coast States. The only winners are the beer barns and daquiri shacks sitting on the LA/MS border - and the cops with dashcams watching them try to drive back home across the county lines.

We're in dozens of tobacco outlet stores in MS/LA and I've spent the last 48 hours doing damage control on a store-by-store basis. Rape Accusation, page 1. Retraction, page 27-D

A Lawyer should go after them to ban analogs in Oregon, along with alcoholic beverages, things to high in cholesterol, fats and sugars. I mean if that is what the DAG is basing the ban on then go whole hog and follow through!

Not surprising. Expect other states to follow suit. Too much lost taxes, and the FDA gave them the excuse.

"When products threaten the health and safety of Oregonians, we will take action," said Mary Williams, deputy attorney general. "If companies want to sell electronic cigarettes to consumers, they have to be able to prove they are safe."

So, will they ban real cigarettes too? Double standard.

at least as of now in Washington State they are legal...KING5 news contacted the Wa St AG after a story on ecigs and were notified by the AG office that ecigs do not fall under Washington State's smoking laws since they arent ignited/burning materials...lets hope it stays that way here, since i enjoy being able to puff away in my local watering holes

Interesting angle Bewzer - keep us informed, will you?

Let's play with some numbers. If 400,000 people die a year from tobacco smoke, and the median salary in the united states is roughly $50k in 2007 according to Wiki. And say that they only pay 20% income tax and we forgo the additional taxes on purchases, property, etc. then that is 400,000 x 50,000 (remember this is median so half will fall below and half will be higher) and that is 2x10^10 which is $20,000,000,000 in taxes. This once again does not include additional taxes. Even if you cut that in half because this is the household income where two are combining to make 50k, it's still a big chunk of change.

Now to me I would think keeping them alive is more money than banning electronic cigs and having them die off with analogs.

I don't know if my number playing is correct as there is a lot of variables .... but I still would think it's in the favor of the government to keep people alive to work.

Maybe someone else can negate my statement, confirm, or add to it.

Double standard is right. FDA given "health risks" as reasons for possibly not allowing ecigs to be sold, yet the are quite "OK" with selling well known cancer sticks. This is , what's the word I'm looking for? SHAMEFUL!!!!!!!!!

God is love.
Love is blind.

therefore...

No reason for you to worry. It bans the sell of e-cigs...can't stop the Internet sales. Just buy online like everybody else.

I agree they should ban cigarettes as well (something we know is harmful and more than likely will cause you to get cancer) if they're going to pull something like this. More and more its seems like the reason for all of these shenanigans is the all mighty dollar.
