I hate Oregon. Somebody please adopt us. We have an awful nanny who abuses us.

There is something like a 10 year plan where I live. Every couple years the noose is supposed to tighten just a hair more so that the general population does not think things are too extreme. From just listening to the muckity-mucks, I hear tell that it will be against the law to smoke in your own car while you are driving through the downtown area, or any public property such as the courthouse parking lot.

Justification of the downtown part . . . 25 feet from any public window or door would cross into the middle of the street. Apartment complexes are in the whispers. You have to be 25 feet from your neighbor's window or door too. No smoking on your back porch if you live in an apartment complex.

If vaping gets lumped into smoking, and the plan goes that far, I guarantee that I will make headlines. Since there really isn't anybody left to steal land from, we can't really revolt and start another new country, but something does need to happen.

BTW, the top two links don't seem to be working for me.

It's not really a ban - just requires nicotine products to have a prescription. Can you imagine presecriptions for cigarettes?? The weird thing is, it has all sorts of definitions and rules for tobacco, too. Seems to contradict itself a lot. I agree it will never pass, but these people are truly falling into the depths of insanity!

Good Lord. I read the second document and learned that Oregon took pseudoephidrine off the shelves 4 years ago. If I lived in Oregon, every time I got a cold, I would have to get in my car and drive to Washington, Califonia, Idaho, or Nevada to buy Sudafed?!!! Can't even mail order it because Federal law requires a signature at the pharmacy and has a limit on the number of packages purchased.

There is going to be a general "uprising" of citizens before it's all over. Fairminded people are going to wake up and decide that it's time to take back our land. Evil corruption will continue, so we all must be vigilant at all corners, cuz "they" are coming after us. I've seen this happen first hand in other lands and I can assure you - It is UGLY.

Sheeze! A crime to possess more than 0.1 mg of nic! I don't think it would have a chance in passing, but the attempt is certainly telling (and chilling).

When are people going to say enough?

When their 70+ year old grandma or grandpa is busted for buying or smoking their cigarettes?

Actually, pseudoephidrine is still available over the counter in Oregon. You just have to get it from the pharmacy counter, and they may take your ID to track in case you go from store to store buying large quantities. Strong doses require a prescription, but your standard Sudafed type cold relief is still available, so long as you don't mind a little investigation and tracking, LOL.

This OR State Rep is a nutter prohibitionist, and the legislation has zero chance of passage. Greenlick is still the only sponsor of the same bill he introduced a 2009, which means than no other Rep in the state will support the bill.

Since the legisltion would ban the sale and possession of all tobacco products and OTC NRT products (as well as e-cigarette products), the tobacco and drug company lobbyists have already ensured that this bill is DOA.

Even CTFK, ACS, AHA, ALA would oppose this bill, since it would eliminate all tobacco tax revenue and OTC sales of NRT products.
