I was at the gym when the Letterman show and e-cigs came up on O'Reillys" show so I did not see all of it.From what little I saw it appeared O'Reilly was reacting negatively and understood nothing of e-cigs. He is such an opinionated person that I fear he will start a crusade against e-cigs. We need to start sending him our prepared information and our available scientific studies to hopefully educate him before he starts a rant. You can be assured the ACS,ALA,and AHA are going to be "educating" him. I would like to see someone from one of those organizations and Bill Godshall as guests together on his show. Maybe O'Reilly and his audience would benefit from knowing the truth!

I do not know how to contact his show at Fox News. Does anyone know his e-mail address?

The episode will replay at least one more time if not twice before 6am (EST). Maybe someone out there can record it?? It is during the Pinhead and Patriot segment near the end of the show. My desktop died last week and I don't have a TV tuner card for my laptop yet or I would be happy to do it. ;-)

LETTERMAN: Is nicotine, in and of itself, bad for you?

HEIGL: I don't know. I've read things that say it's really not, that it's about as bad as a cup of coffee. I guess a stimulant like caffeine. I'm choosing to believe that.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Bulletin to Ms. Heigl, nicotine is bad for you, and if you promote it, you're a pinhead.

- You can catch Bill O'Reilly's "Talking Points Memo" and "Pinheads & Patriots" weeknights at 8 and 11 p.m. ET on the Fox News Channel and any time on foxnews.com/oreilly. Send your comments to: oreilly@foxnews.com.

Bulletin to O'Reilly: Heigl is choosing her belief regarding nicotine. She has that right, and the right to speak freely of it (got a problem with that?)

The exercise of one's rights does not necessarily constitute promotion of them, nor make one a candidate for pinheadism. It could be argued, on the other hand, that it makes one--as they used to say--uniquely American.

Bulletin to Bill O’Reilly: Nicotine is not nearly as “bad for you” as the spin doctors have led you to believe. Katherine Heigl took the time to do the research. Nicotine is about as harmful as another popular addictive substance: caffeine. Nicotine is being studied as treatment for conditions such as attention deficit disorder, depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, memory disorders, and more. It may even prevent diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Nicotine is not a direct cause of lung disease, cardiovascular disease, or cancers. Other elements in smoke--tar, carbon monoxide, particulates, and thousands of chemicals created by the process of combustion--cause smoking-related diseases. Katherine Heigl has managed to finally stop inhaling deadly smoke by switching to an electronic cigarette. She is not promoting nicotine. She is delighted to have found a very effective means of achieving smoking abstinence. Only a Pinhead would criticize her for that.

... and that is the end of the segment lol
You have to see O'Reilly for what he is though. Jello, dressed up as tiramisu, for the masses. You can pour marsala wine onto jello, but it still remains jello.
He will continue to push his pro-establishment agenda, no matter what we say.

But I had some fun composing my message. I started out by mirroring his words, "Bulletin to...", then pulled in the concept of "spin doctors" influencing his opininion on nicotine (isn't he supposed to be in the "no spin zone"?) And I got to end it by calling him a pinhead. I'm not the first viewer to do so, and I'm sure I won't be the last.

I thought he did seem a bit negative but to be fair he was commenting about her statement that nicotine wasn't harmful to your health. She needs a little education in that regard.

Outside of it's addictive characteristics just how unhealthy do you think nicotine is in the quantity she's probably using? (maybe 18mg)

Great letter as usual, Elaine.

I just wish that when the opportunity arises in media interviews and such that more emphasis is placed on no-nic mixtures. To the uninformed nicotine IS the carcinogenic culprit. By the time we explain, as you did, that it ISN'T the listener is disinterested, I think. IMHO, we need to keep mentioning that using nicotine is a choice and that there many people who have stopped using it altogether while still enjoying the act of vaping.

Albeit not nearly on the scale of the Letterman show, recently the ladies of Cignot and Steve of PS were both interviewed by local media. While the vendors did an outstanding job of explaining the products, there was no mention of nicotine-less products. Sans nicotine, the FDA is not even remotely involved in any of this. I think it's a point we need to hammer home way more often. JMHO, natch...

No, she has it exactly right. Nicotine is "about as bad as a cup of coffee. I guess a stimulant like caffeine."

OReilly is the one who needs an education about nicotine.
