I happened to be sitting in one of my state representative's offices today taking care of some other business. This fellow also happens to be our lawyer.

I took the opportunity to ask him his opinion of Electronic cigarettes. He knew next to nothing about them and had not formed an opinion. Needless to say I educated him LOL

Mind you this is New Orleans, not some little hole in the wall district in the middle of the woods.

Now, I know this fellow & have known him since before be became a state representative. I know him to be a straight forward honest guy. He said he has not as yet heard anything in the Louisiana legislature concerning E-cigarettes or the banning of them. After we talked for a while and I presented several facts about the issue he agreed that e-cigarettes seemed like a good thing and he sees no reason why they should be banned. He agreed that they are a safer alternitive than smoking burnt tobacco.

He said at the state level the state really doesnt deal with such issues - they follow Federal guidelines and if the FDA does regulate e-cigs the state would have to comply with the federal laws. Other than that, there is no effort in Louisiana to restrict it's use or ban them.

It dawned on me while I was talking to him that most state representative's are just people like you and me. Many of them like this fellow do not know anything about E-cigs, so We must educate them before the corrupt Powers Higher Up get to them and put ideas in their heads.
