I have been using Japanese cotton for as long as I can remember because I was told it was so much better than organic. I have been vaping a goblin every since the v2 hit the market. Today I burned my coils off and because I hadn't ever used organic in it I thought I would give it a try. To my surprise I am getting twice as many air bubbles when I vape witch means cotton is soaking up more juice. So have we been sold a bill of goods just so we would buy cotton at the vape shop. Let me know what you think?

Why buy cotton at a vape shop? Vape shops are a rip off for Japanese cotton. You could go to Sephora online and get more of it for not much more price wise.
I have been using cellucotton , but I have used Koh Gen Do (The Japanese cotton I mentioned you could get on Sephora). I find they are about the same in a Reo. Never used Japanese cotton in a tank though.

Japanese cotton is far better than organic cotton for wicking.

Technically, Japanese cotton is organic cotton, but laid out in sheets with all of the fibers pointing the same direction which improves wicking. If the fibers cross the basically creates a little dam that restricts the flow of juice.

And NEVER buy cotton from a vape shop. They'll rip you off every time. You can get 60 sheets of Koh Gen Do from the beauty supply shop Sephora for $12. Or you can buy even larger packs from Amazon for not much more. Vape shops are the worst place to buy cotton from.

I bought a couple sheets of Japanese cotton from my local vape shop to try it out. Of course buying in bulk online is cheaper (I couldn't find a local beauty supply place around here that carried it), but to me it was worth the $1 per sheet, which is not a lot in the grand scheme of things. I ran a small brick & mortar shop in another field so I know what overhead is versus margins and the reason they "rip you off" ie charge more than online stores, to stay in business. I also bought a small roll of Kanthal at a vape shop to try my hand at building coils. I purchased both my mods and some juices there too. I got "ripped off" even though I knew I was paying more for the convenience to have it right now, to be able to ask questions and get answers from a human being face to face, and to see, touch, and smell products before purchasing them. If my local B&Ms weren't here "ripping people off" I would probably still be smoking cigarettes.

Overhead is one thing, but if you're charging more than a 500% markup over the RETAIL PRICE for the same item, that's a rip off.

Keep in mind that Sephora is also a B&M store yet sells 60 sheets of the exact same product for $12. A vape shop that buys a box at a Sephora B&M shop for retail price, then opens the box and sells the sheets 1 at a time with a 500% markup isn't making overhead, they're ripping you off.

But I'm quite certain your local B&M loves the fact that you will willingly and knowingly pay 500+% more than retail. Can I sell you a car? I've got a nice Mustang I'll sell you for just $100,000.

Most B&M's don't do nearly the volume to get anywhere close to 40% off of retail. It's more like 20%, sometimes less. Depending on the area, like CA where businesses are taxed/regulated up the wazoo, a 30% markup is break-even. Online retailers who work out of their garage, are from less regulated/lower cost of business areas, and/or use warehouse space that doesn't command the premium of retail space, can turn a profit on 5-10%. Same for big-box stores & chains (like Sephora) due to their purchasing power and streamlined distribution.

Anyway, I didn't want 60-80 sheets of the stuff, just a few, and the vape shop sells them like that. You pay for the service.

Now that I have gotten my feet wet, I did purchase bulk koh gen do and I'm set for a year. Good stuff.

Japanese cotton is the best IMHO. I like the Muji really can't tell the difference from the Koh Gen Do, It's also a lot cheaper especially if you get it right from them $2.50 for 140ct bag. Shipping is more than the cotton but I got 2 140 ct packs w/ shipping for less then the price of 1 bag of Koh Gen Do. Enough to last YEARS.

I use the Sally Beauty supply Salon Coil Cotton 45 ft of thumb sized fiber aligned cotton for $3.29. has less break in flavor than KGD and fluffier not compressed. Enough to last me for about 5 years for $3.29.
Now it does not say organic so I will likely die a horrible death, but not from using that cotton I am thinking. I gave all my KGD pads I had ordered to my wife to use for makeup removal. She says they work great for what they were designed for.

The only time you should buy anything at a vape shop if it is an emergency or it purely out of convenience. If you like saving money buy everything online.
