Well, after spending a day vaping on this atty mounted on my new Poldiac I have to say, it's just about the finest vape I've yet had, bar none. I would hasten to add that it's a tricky build, what with the eentsy weensy itty bitty little parts you have to keep from losing or dropping, and I find that when I slip the wick into the coil it goes from .8 ohm down to .38 ohm, until you pulse the coil and adjust it quite delicately, but once that's done it vapes so wonderfully at .8 ohm. Instant full rich vapor with great flavor. I'm very pleased with it, on the whole.

I have to agree on the vape. I found it much easier removing the chamber reducer and positive post connections to wrap the coil in place.

I didn't have to do that, I've always used the Petar K method, but it's still a tricky build. I wrap my coils on a drill bit of the right size, slip that into the wick hole, and fasten down the leads, then pull out the drill bit and slip in the mesh wick. Works like a charm and gets you nice uniform coils.

I did have to take the lead screws completely out though, and they are really tiny little things that I'm afraid will fall on the carpet and disappear into to it never to be seen again.

I've done that. Wrapping the wick directly just gets it more snug IMHO.

Well yes it does, I can't argue with that, but do you really want it more snug? That's going to make it harder to work out hot spots and it really doesn't need to be snug on the wick. Moreover, if you need to take the wick out to burn off the coil it will be harder to do, and you may have to just toss the coil and wind another one. At least that's been my observation.

I find that my wicks work very well if I can slip them into the coil with minimal friction, not loose of course, but certainly not tight. They wick marvelously. You really don't need that much contact between wick and coil... AND... I find I can often slip a wick into a coil with no hot spots at all.

I do. Especially on a wick this thick. By the time it's time for a torch I'll take a new coil as well. I don't vape gunky liquids really.

I use that method only on certain builds

I never said that, and if I may refer you to the title of the thread it specifically names the
Origen Genesis v2 Clone atomizer, and that which appears in your post is not that atomizer.
That's not a dripper, it's a Goblin.

I was posting pictures of the type build that I use the bestest-ever only way to build. So it is on topic.

In my V2, the current build is 2.5mm of hollow Ekowool with a 15mm 200 grade mesh tube inside it at the top. I wrap 0.5mm x 0.1mm Kanthal ribbon around the Ekowool Mesh section, poke the rest of the Ekowool through the deck into the tank and mount the coil.

Perfect working with no hotspots right from the start with excellent flavor You can vape the tank without tilting and vape it totally bone dry because of the Ekowool. When the time comes just burn rinse and repeat a couple of times and you are good to go.

We do a similar type of build an EOM (Ekowool Over Mesh) build in the Nexgen thread. Since it is the only build that works quickly on that PiTA Nextgen without it being a total short/hotspot frustration.

You build the Goblin with mesh... Really???

That will wick fast enough for 50W vaping? I'd never even think of building the Silverplay with mesh, but I only use the Silverplay to very quickly burn off MaxVG juice that I don't particularly like.

I didn't have any issues with the NextGen. I would like a little thicker wick channel. I know I can add mesh at the top. And I'd like a little more airflow. Still the vape is nice. Not as good as the OriGen....
