received this mod from a friend for free, told me its authentic but this is the only one that didn't have packaging which is why he gave it to me for free, but i can't tell if it is in fact an authentic.

Chipotle.
Honestly it's hard to say, the Origin has been around for a while now so there has been ample time for the cloners to make as good of a copy as possible. That being said the pictures don't say much for me, the best way IMO would be to compare it to a known authentic version so I hope someone who has an authentic chimes in here with some comparison pictures, I own a 22mm version of an Origin clone that I used for a while but now it just collects dust in my "spares" pile.

right on, yea i have no reason not to trust the guy just trying to get more opinions, i took it to a buddy that works at the local shop where hopefully i will be working too :) and he says hes 75% sure it is cause of the texture on the outside of the tube and the delrin insulators are clear-ish he says on the clones and solid white on the authentcs.

either way it was free and it hits really well with a very smooth button throw thats not too long and not too short, just right, though i think i may try to find some magnets that work in it, haven't pulled it apart but im pretty sure its a spring.

You may find that while the Origin has a ton of different adjustments it can be kind of a pain to use every day, on paper it looks awesome since it has top contact battery rattle adjustment AND bottom insulator battery rattle adjustment, along with that it also has an external button throw adjustment and an overall button throw adjustment. Like I said, on paper it looks like it may be the most adjustable mechanical mod ever made but in actual real world use I found myself almost constantly adjusting the bottom switch throw adjustment and I even had an instance where that adjustment became so adjusted that the mod started auto-firing while it was still locked! I did a bunch of modifications to try to improve it but in the end it has claimed a spot in my backup pile.

i see what you mean about the button now, been messing with it for like an hour, it seems once you get it right you just need to leave it and when changing batteries the post can extend and auto fire when you screw it back on lol. gonna keep playing with it :)

That's the issue with the Origen mod.
The switch design is horrible. It's an inherent problem ( auto fire, auto adjusting, misfiring..)
Otherwise they are well made (originals).

I have a nice clone. I rarely use it. Never outside the home.

i found leaving it tightened and using an atty with an adjustable pin easier, but i still back the pin off to make sure it wont auto fire when im not using it cause im paranoid lol

This is one of the reasons I would be reluctant to buy an authentic Nemesis unless it was direct from Atmomixani. Any where else and I would always wonder if I had actually bought a clone for an authentic price.I know your topic concerns the Origin, but my concern could apply to a lot of mechs. Many authentics/clones look pretty much identical and even parts can be interchanged. So how can you be 100% sure. I'm not bringing up the tired old "clone moraility" argument either.

I'm pretty sure you will get an authentic one if you order from a long since established store, and not from sketchy-looking sites put up 'last weekend'. Most of the older ecig stores online want to keep their customer bases, and wouldn't mess people over with stuff like that, selling clones for the price of authentics. Also most of the producers of mods are happy to do an authenticity check if you email them, at least Vicious Ant does that for free. So I wouldn't worry about something being authentic if ordered from a reputable store like cloud9vaping instead of ye olde fasttech, which is a site ridden with clones and clones of clones.

And most of all, all clones have some design flaw that separates them from authentics or other way around.

I agree with most of your post, cloud9vaping is a reputable vendor.
However,
Fast tech isn't sketchy. They have a better track record than any legit Modder and most established vape store websites.
They clearly (and obviously) sell clones. (They are in China).
