A 1976 VW Rabbit. Like this one, but painted a pleasing hue of traffic-cone orange and also with a great deal more rust.

A 1976 Rabbit was also my first car! I totaled less than a month later.

what was your first car?

My very first car was a 1955 Chevy that my dad bought from a friend for $25 when I was 15! Then me and my neighbor friend, along with my dad, rebuilt it and when I was 16 & got my license, it looked just about like this pic! Pretty cool car to drive to high school in & take my girlfriend out & cruise around in! :2cool:

12/15 - 1st car I ever drove after getting my license...1967 Chevelle SS just like this one, bought by my brother, dumped on my parents because he wanted a '69 Camaro since the other two brothers already had Camaros....lol....but the kids at school thought I was really "cool" (not).

My first car looked just like this:

A 1964 Dodge Dart... my Dad paid $125.00 for it, and I pretty much learned to drive on it... took the driving test in it, too. Didn't get my license until I was 18 since my Mom never drove, but at least I didn't have to suffer through Driver's Ed... LOL!!

Mine was an 84 Camaro Z28, the only thing cool about it was the name. The previous owner even swapped out the v8 for a v6 ( seriously who does that??) The first year driving it I put more money into keeping it running than my dad paid for it.. Oh well, it was still some wheels and I was/am greatful! Thanks for the contest and Merry Christmas everyone!

My second car I got for my 16th birthday was a brand new 1989 Ford Escort GT. I loved that car. I had it for about 3 years then I wreaked it flying down a dirt road and I dropped my cigarette into my lap ( I remember I had on shorts and I jumped, I don't remember losing control or flipping) and somehow lost control of the car and flipped it about 3 times. It was a terrible wreak, if I would have had my seat belt on I'd been dead because it crushed the drivers side all the way down to the floor. Thankfully it threw me to the passengers side and I walked away sore and bruised.

Not an entry

Since we're on first cars and driving.....True story

When I took driver's ed in high school, the 'behind the wheel' class I had was given by a woman instructor, and I had the pleasure of two other female students in the car at the same time. The teacher has the patience of a saint, when I was driving all she said was "slow down a bit" or "watch your speed".

My time in the back seat with the other students driving was spent watching trees and telephone poles coming at us, centered on the hood ornament. The teacher would simply be saying "steer a bit more to the left" "a little bit more". I had to bite my tongue to keep from screaming "we're all gonna die"

...and I have ridden with many excellent women drivers since then
