didnt know about the 1 day thing- but still- hmmmmm...... they did say they didnt want his burial place to be a shrine or anything- but it just seems quick and covert..

of course, I am just a total skeptic anyway- LOL

The dna results came back as positive. Muslims have to be buried as quickly as possible as Jews are (I'm Jewish), and any place to bury him would be a shrine to exremists.

Burial within a specific time frame is a Muslim requirement. Denying a physical location to avoid a "holy shrine" or a focal point as OBL being a martyr is another reason.

However, burial at sea is not something that is generally accepted by Islam.

Really, it boils down to the lesser of multiple evils. If my information is correct, I don't think any country wanted to "claim" the body in the time required. Things to keep in mind, the operators that carried out the mission are held in the highest regard and aren't likely pawns to a political end (agenda). I'm confident the operation went down as detailed (minus some minor OPSEC specifics) and the target was identified/confirmed.

OH I had heard that no country wanted him- which I thought was very fitting- I guess I am just a... visual person- If a family member dies, I NEED to see the body, or I cant wrap my mind around it. its just one of those things.. I understand protocol and such for religious beliefs- of course, you cant face mecca when your sinkin and goin with the currents- But, due to my own religion I dont believe he had the chance to go there anyway- so honestly, I have no concern for his last rights, burial or anything else. I'da just as soon seen his head on a spike outside 1600 pennsylvania avenue- BUT, on the same token, I think we need public hangings in the town square. LOL I am just vindictive, egotistical, and bloodthirsty like that. *shy smile*

Either way- He is gone- or he isnt- they will try to retaliate because we hunted him down and killed him like a dog, OR he is still alive, running like a dog and they will try to retaliate- I am not scared or worried, but its something that we now live with on a daily basis. Am I smiling like an idiot because JUST the thought of the last thing he saw was a RED BLOODED, AMERICAN Soldier with a gun pointed at his head, makes me happy- YES- and thats all that matters in the long run.

Keep in mind, the situation is really far from over. Ayman al-Zawahiri is still at large. al-Qaeda is far from being completely dismantled, but has suffered severe operational and strategic level losses in the last few years. There are plenty of "like" groups that will (or have) operated in parallel/tandem with al-Qaeda, those are the ones I would worry about the most. Considering that, operationally and strategically, aQ has been a chess player thinking in terms of long-term goals/objectives; most of the "like" organizations that may step up to fill the void, tend to be less long-term goal driven and more short-term impact oriented. I can not stress how important it is to remain vigilant, both at home and abroad. That vigilance must not wane over time, for it is when we feel most secure that our guard is lowest and when we are the best target.

However, that being said, this is a great success for our service members and a big morale boost. Remember to thank a service member or a veteran, there are a lot more things that they deal with than just bullets or IEDs. Those are the people out there that are gathering the actionable intelligence that made this operation possible and a success.

I think for the me fact that he was found in a MANSION cowering behind a WOMAN is enough. I only hope that his followers see it as the giant hypocrisy that it is. Following Muslim tradition for his burial was NOT for his sake, it was for his family (most of whom are good people) and to show the world that we respect the religion, we just don't stand by and allow his actions.

Well, the dude is fish food now. Personally Id like to hear he spent the last 10 years in a secret torture chamber, enjoying the same comforts Sadam was known to give, but oh well. And to the guy that got to pull the trigger...He needs a brass staue of him holding up bin ladin like a prize fish, with a million dollar smile from ear to ear on his face, and perhaps a nice "thumbs up" on one hand.

Don't get me wrong. A similar image to the one of Saddam crawlin out of a tiny hole in the ground would have given me much satisfaction. My thoughts are the way it SHOULD look to his followers who are NOT living in the lap of luxury that their leader was killed living in opulance hiding behind a woman. Hopefully they will be disillusioned by it.

I would LOVE to see them realize he was a coward and a snake- BUT, just like with Sadamm's die hard fans, they will turn it around as to how cruel we are. But, we DO have the satisfaction that he got tapped right in the head. Nothing more satisfying than a good thunk with a 9mm. - funny, right about the time they were doing that yesterday- my kids were outside with hubby shooting and enjoying our freedoms.

I know there are 10 men who are ready to take his place- my biggest hope is they are just a little scared. adn the second they take over, we put a price on their heads. Aint no sense in tiptoeing around anything. walk in, say your peace, and stand behind it.

Quittin: I'm a little bit afraid of you now! (shy smile back)

LOL- shoot, I am gentle as a lamb- I just tend to get a little feisty when someone/something I love gets hurt ;-)
and then I believe in the ability to excercise my first and second ammendment rights ;-) LOL
