The firmware is most interesting to me. I'm sure joyetech will update it as needed, but enterprising coders could whip up something really innovative. The potential is massive. Look at all the custom Android firmware that's much better than most first-party offerings. Of course, that kind of tinkering will only appeal to a percentage of eVic buyers.

I agree. I've worked in consumer electronics all my life. You can only fit so much crap into a 5 lb bag. Sorry, I meant 2.27 kilo bag!

Especially durability wise for my personal concern....
I bought an iTaste (hopefully with 2 batteries in a quite cheap co-op). One battery is already dead, I confess it falls one time but only one time, so too many electronics in one small device can obviously have side-effects

The software updates are probably minimally helpful. Bug fixes and small improvements "Hey! The readout of ____ is clearer in this version and we added average puff duration to the statistics.". meh. Most significant feature changes require hardware changes.

I doubt it will be open source/customizable....(in other words, you won't have source code or specs, can't modify it yourself. Why would you want to? "Hey...my e-cig plays 'happy birthday' on the 30th of December!" ...if it even has a speaker of some sort. meh.).

But who knows for sure.

You joke now, but just wait.

If you can flash a firmware update onto it then you can flash custom firmware onto it too. It's really a matter of coders wanting to do it and there are a lot of coders that like to play around with things for the sake of playing around with things. As for why you would want to, there are lots of potential reasons -- different volt range, improved UI, etc.

It would be kinda cool to have apps. But then what extra apps would you need on a pv? I'd quite like a police radio scanner. :D

Just looking at the Janty one - and wondering if eVic will add some of those software features. So potentially eVic could add customizable vaping profiles that you save on the pc - and you can download them onto your pv and use them when you want to change profiles. I think that's how it would work. You'd just download the latest update to get the extra functions.

I was thinking about more apps drain my cellphone faster - and if adding a lot of extras in would do the same on a pv. I suppose it would. I'd prefer the battery life for vaping.

I like the janty joystick with realtime variable. Is the Evic auto? or is the enter button the fire button- doesn't really say

Are you Chinglish challenged, or what?

“When you connect the atomizer normally, and then press enter button long, the atomizer will work. At the same time, when you normal vapor, the screen will show the time of vapor. When you loosen button, the screen will be blank after keeping 5 s. But if you click enter and hold on during 5s. the atomizer will work and time again.”

Doesn't get much plainer than that.
LOL

Off topic--- but...you know what (of many things) I don't understand? Why the heck is it so hard finding someone that can translate to English? 1/2 our manufacturing people are over there setting up shops anyway. Gee...get a 2nd job and help translate. Or start a business reviewing Chinese to English translations for manufacturers.

Off Topic.
I've often suspected that there were no people involved in the translation and that it was done by computer translation programs. OTOH, although I can proof-read English, I certainly can't translate Mandarin to anything, and I certainly wouldn't do it for 7 cents an hour if I could! Proof reading for a technical manual is nearly impossible because you would have to understand the operation of the product before you could clarify the language. Manuals also (in most countries) carry legal implications and liabilities. I know the Health Cabin Forum often accepts suggestions of how to clarify their descriptions or instructions.

In the meantime, if your picnic table kit ends up looking like a swing set, Relax, Enjoy!

Even further off topic... I think its that they also are thinking of a global market, and don't put a lot of focus on the English translation because they have a lot of sales in Asia. That's my current hypothesis.
