Duh, It has a 2.25AMP limit, OIf course it won't do 5v at 2.0ohm, THAT IS 2.5A

Has that officially been listed somewhere?

Also, reiterating my point does nothing more than that...state what the testing I have done proves. It's a shame, I can get a Lambo for 1/2 the price (if not less these days) or a $40 Vamo that out performs this thing.

It was clearly rushed out to market with out any substantial testing by real-world vapers. In the real world, vapers want their devices to function properly, and achieve 11+ watts.

Edit: Health cabin states the amp limit to be 2.5a:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-ovale-evic-future-vaping-71.html#post8110138

All in all, the software says 15w, the device said 13w in v1.0 of the firmware, and in v1.1 it is a max of 11w. Regardless, it has never mattered as you simply cannot get out what you are supposed to be getting out.

Guess I'm not a hard-core user, so I like the evic... looking forward to to new functionality when it becomes available. I'm not concerned by some of the issues reported. Bottom line for me is it's a cool device that has features no other device on the market has. I like that since I like playing around with gadgets. It also vapes just as good as my provari mini as far as I can tell. Looking forward to being able to vary the wattage within a single puff, as I think having that feature may very well increase vape quality.

I'm also a ProVari user, but I'm vaping it constantly on 2.47 Amps (1.7 Ohm RBA on 4.2V).
So the eVic is totally useless for me, because it's impossible to get the same vapor out of it as I get from my ProVari any time.
I'm really disappointed with the eVic, because the upgradeable firmware is basically a very good idea and I really wanted to use it.

I wish I could upgrade my ProVari too. Adding new menu points to it would be dream.
I actually like the idea of the Puff Counter. Not because I'm counting my puffs, but because it's a very useful counting system to measure the exact capacity of your battery. (or to compare two batteries to each other)
Counting the vaping time in hours is meaningless, because sometimes you vape more or vape less.
But the puff counter is an accurate way of measuring the true vaping time.

im not raggin on anyone but i am surprised at how some of you are willing to purchase a device that does not function as advertised at the time of release, if i buy something that is supposed to do something it better friggin do it when i open the box, not a month down the road.

this same attitude is why there is so much crap being released all the time, because consumers are willing to put up with it, i have no interest in this device but if i did buy it and it cant do what the manufacturer is claiming it can do, it's going back till it can. if everyone did the same it would be fixed fast, not well maybe next time....................

It does what we want it to do. Personally I never had any interest in vaping at 15 watts, even not above 10 watts. Those who vape that high or above 5 volts are a small percentage. IMO the device does as advtertised except for that one issue I don't care about. I bought it because it represents new technology. Something modern in a world of old tech devices. The upgradbility issue has been proven to work and more are coming. I am happy and I am sure most users who have one or who will buy one, will be as well.

I was looking at the 1.1 update - seems you can adjust by wattage with that. I'd be very interested to hear how that works if you download it Siam.
Being able to download updates definitely looks like a plus. That's why people will be willing to buy it I expect - because upgrades are just a matter of downloading - or they may wait to see what the updates are. It may not do certain things - but if a download is issued then the fix is in. Except, as you say, for the watts range. I don't think a lot of people vape at 15 watts though.

I'm getting it just so i can see this kind of stuff happen with it

Custom splash screens, home screen info, messages... I don't think it would be too difficult to do. It's the same reason I prefer Android phones though.

Yes, the wattage display and adjustment are fine. It is calculating what the max wattage should be and capping your ability to adjust it beyond that as BasilRay said in his video. For example, I am running a 2.8 OHM Ikenvape 801 Fusion Cartomizer with an adapter. When I turn the device on it caps the wattage at 8.9 watts. I guess this is the max for the 2.3 amp limit of the device. You can bypass that as BasilRay discovered by going into the menu and switching back to VV mode, exiting out of the menu and then going back in and setting it back to VW display. But, even though it shows a higher wattage it won't put out beyong the max of 2.3 amps. I think the main reason they did this is the temperature issue of the components. Provari does the same with their device and their 3 amp limit. With electronic devices there is only so much heat they can handle before they start to fail or melt. This is just an inherit limitation of electronic circuits. I have had some of the cheap VV devices with higher limits and they worked great for a short time until they just have a dangerous failure or stop working. I will side with safety any day of the week. That is why devices that are electronic and allow higher settings fail, unless the electronics are very well insulated or heatsinked from the atomizer connection. For me this is fine and it works well. With the settings and cartomizer I use I get great flavor, loads of vapor (My room is filled with thick plumes in about 10 minutes with my DIY 50/50 juice) and overall good performance. I have been vaping a while and I have tried high voltage vaping. It's not for me. I don't like the taste of burnt juice or burning the inside of my mouth as that has done in the past. I am getting a nice warm vape but not HOT and that is where I like it. For others who want massive wattage they should look to another device other than devices limited to 3 amps or less like the eVic and the Provari. I think Joyetech and Ovale's logic is that this is an device to upgrade their base of EGO users to VV and VW, not a device for the super power vaper. That aside, I like it, use it daily and will continue to do so.

In the 1.1 update you can apparently adjust the watts from the front screen and use the scroll wheel to turn the watts up or down. So what I was wondering is if you downloaded the 1.1. update and if that has made the VW dynamic - can you just adjust by watts with the 1.1 update without having to go back into the menu and reset the watts to get the voltage adjustment necessary?

Yes, the VW is dynamic. You can see it in action in BasilRay's video. When you change the atomizer it will flash the atomizer reading on the screen and then back to the wattage display with the recommended settings. In the 2.0 update we will be able to set the device to a set wattage for a set resistance which will be nice.

Thanks. This is interesting. This whole new thing of downloading updates will be quite cool if these sort of improvements can be added.

Unfortunately, I just dropped my eVic from about 4 feet to a unpadded wood floor. Although not ideal, It was not catastrophic. The head popped off revealing the internals and wiring. I thought I would share a few pictures. The wiring to the atomizer head is thinner then I would like but not unexpected. Everyone can make their own judgement on if they like what they see or not. The head is pressure fit and popped right back on and feels snug and secure. I would have preferred a more secure attachment but that could have resulted in even greater damage so I am not sure how I feel about that. Still vaping away fortunately.

Head re-attached showing small damage of hairline crack which is not noticable unless you look for it due to the smoke color of the display cover.

So survived the drop reasonably ok from the looks of it. Kinda interesting how the head pops off and fits back on like that.

If it happens to anyone they need to be sure to look at the head orientation because they are two tabs with cutouts to allow rooms for the circuit boards. If you do not align it correctly and presh it back on and try to force it in, you will damage the unit. Vaping away so nothing major except for a crack I cannot see. The head feels secure.

I like that the head can be interchanged with other tubes. I think there could be some cool tube designs in the future. They might have started something with this...
I'll stay tuned to hear how the 2.0 update goes when its released. Keeping my eye on the Janty Mid too - since its the only other comparable device at the moment.
