I disagree with your last sentence. You'd be surprised how many people wanna quit smoking but the moment they hear/see a price that cost more than their pack of cigs, they immediately dismiss the whole notion of vaping.

Personally, if I am going to help someone quit, it's definitely with a $50 budget in mind- including juice. Let them advance afterwards on their own. If nothing else they already know they like vaping; now want something newer[/] in regards to gear.

Note 5!!!
I'm sorry.....did I accidentally recommend expensive gear to a new vaper? I think you missed my point entirely.
Mention and recommend aren't the same.

Yep....there were the fanatics. But not nearly as many as those ACCUSED of being fanatics. It was fun back then. Someone would ask for a durable, well built, reliable mod and someone would suggest a ProVari. Then the sparks would fly for 2 days until the thread got shut down. Even though, in those days, very few mods fit the op's criteria.
I eventually got a ProVari and then several more. Probably still the best purchases I've made....although, I've given them all away.
Those were the good 'ole days!!!!

I did not say you mentioned or recommended anything. My reply was based on the last sentence you wrote in your post. I think this thread is making people defensive for no reason.

LOL, I wasn't offended and I didn't mean to sound defensive. I say a lot of stuff but I never try to recommend high end anything to those just starting out. I thought I might have said something that came across that way....it was a legitimate question without any insinuations.

That being said, we made it to this point in the face of the same issues. People recommending ProVari or Reo mods to us, as new vapers. I laughed it off and bought my next $20 gizmo. No way I was dropping that kind of cabbage. I didn't get spooked by people discussing or even recommending high end stuff....I have a hard time believing todays new vaper gets scared away too. If anything, they get pounded with affordable options these days. That wasn't really the case a few years ago. I either needed a $200 Nemesis or a $180 ProVari...otherwise I would probably go back to smoking. At least, that's what they told me.

I was commenting on a point another poster made aiming at, when we talk about our higher end gear, new vapers lurking the thread might get scared away and never quit smoking. I just thought it was a ridiculous theory and felt like weighing in on it. These are adults lurking these threads, hopefully. They will reason through the muck just like we did.

Most people looking to switch to vaping don't so much go to a specific makers website they go to online vape shops they see mentioned often so they get to see the full range of available gear across all price ranges and make their choice or they come here or other sites and ask advice. Yes it's possible there are a minority of people too lazy to look for themselves but God forbid vaping follows so many other product markets and caters almost exclusively to the lowest common denominator, it's the one aspect of modern life that annoys me more then anything else.
