Hello new member here. I have a question. I have a K 101 mod and today it wouldn't work with my Hypertank 2.
After trying to get it to fire the mod got really hot. I was using an IMR 18650 battery. I immediately removed the battery and it was extremely hot. I'm not sure what the cause was yet, and prior to that my Aerotank was working fine. I looked at everything and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. My question is should I immediately discard the battery?

thanks in advance for any info you may provide.

It's not the battery. You're drawing too much power from it. I can hold my button down until it melts the tank off my unit without the batteries getting hot. You need to find out why it's drawing so many watts. Maybe you're screwing your tank on too tight causing a short. I can't say because I've never used that setup. Read up in the battery section.

I say the battery is trash.
Check the resistance of the tank you had on the mod when it got hot. It may have a shorted atomizer.
thank you for the quick response. The Hypertank 2 is brand new so I checked the resistance prior to use on my Vamo.
it read 1.7 ohms. I vaped with it on there for a little while before trying it on the K 101. It didn't work at all on the K101. After it overheated I threw the coil head away so I can't test it.
Again thanks for the reply. I will discard the battery.

The battery heated up because it had a short. If your tank was fine it was the K101. I would check resistance of the 510 connection, between the center pin and the mod body. It should read the same as when your meter is not connected to anything. If it reads a resistance, it needs to be fixed.

It could be that you screwed the tank on too hard, but that also indicates a problem in the mod's 510 connection. You could also have a short in the switch assembly and you can check continuity in that also, but my bet is on the 510 end.

Don't use the mod until you have the issue figured out.

I agree the safest thing to do with the battery it recycle it. If it got 'extremely hot' it likely vented.

Good luck with it :thumb:
