Wow. I didn't realize I messed up so bad.

I don't think you messed up. I got into mechs pretty early on, too, because I loved the way they looked. You buying a Rig mod because you work on an actual oil rig isn't the worst thing I've ever heard. I totally get it. My first big battery mod was an SVD, which I chose because it looked like a lightsaber. I didn't pay attention to all the reviews explaining that it had a bad switch because hey, it looks like a lightsaber! Yes, I'm a nerd. And my SVD lasted only a month before the switch failed and I learned a sixty dollar lesson. But mechanicals are not so terrible. You just have to be mindful and read up on battery safety. And now that there are so many toppers with lower resistance pre-built coils, you're not automtically committed to rebuilding, which is where things get really tricky. The way I see it, you got a mech, so now you have to do some reading. No big deal. I assume that if you work on an oil rig, you're a grownup and familiar with the concept of safety. Laptops and flashlights use the same batteries that mechanical mods use. They're very common, and not inherently dangerous.
