DC2 - thanks for the cleaning instructions. I'll follow them tonight. I did use moobyghost's youtube video instructions y'day to blow it out and do a dry burn. I didn't however run the water through it; which is in your instructions, so I'll try it tongiht.
Not using the water may have actually caused, or contributed to your problem.

Washing it out with very hot water is very important because it gets any dried out juice that might be clogging the atomizer mesh out of there. If you did a dry burn while that juice was still in there, it would have probably gotten more dried out and started tasting more burnt.

I don't believe blowing it out is sufficient if there is dried out juice in there.

You are ABSOLUTELY right!!! What a difference this made! Vapor production improved! And I don't have that sickly sweet taste anymore (maybe very slightly, certainly not as prominent as it was); although after about a dozen or so puffs, I still have a burnt taste. :( I'll keep vaping on it and it should eventually go away I hope.

Do you do this every night? I'm certainly going to give it one more power wash tonight before going to bed and see how it performs tomorrow.

Thanks again DC2!

Have you checked your atomizer to see if any little fibers from the cart filler have gotten stuck to it? If so, get some narrow tweezers and pull them off of it. (Not talking about the wicking material under the bridge.) Hot or melting fibers on the atomizer can create a nasty burnt kind of taste. The 510 evidently has the reputation of not doing justice to flavors, that might be part of it. Also, many new vapers taste buds go wacky when you first quit smoking. Nothing tastes right until they recover, could be a couple of weeks before things start to taste right to you.

Thanks for the pointers Dee! I power washed the atomizer using DC2's instructions, and got rid of all the junk. On one of the atomizers, I did have a couple of strands and the other was free of strands (I have two as part of the kit I purchased from cignot).

I believe it's the nahaler HV 555 juice that was causing the problem. That was the one I had been vaping all day Sunday and by night time, this taste just started to creep on me. I can even smell the taste on the bottle - if that makes any sense. It's like a sickly sweet taste; can't really describe except to say that I'm tasting nicotine possibly.

So after cleaning I went back to the 555 I purchased from cignot and it started to taste much better.... there was still a very slight sickly taste to it but certainly better than before. But then again, I didn't go back to vaping the HV 555 from nahler. Maybe it's this specific batch I got, because everyone else just raves about their stuff. I for one, will not try to use it anytime soon. Both the HV 555 and Kent have this smell to them.

When I was cleaning one of the atomizers, in my quest to clean it good, I ended removing the wick from one of the atomizers8-o Do you know if that's OK to still use it w/o the wick?

Since the 510 doesn't do justice to the flavors, do you or anyone else have any recommendations on a different brands of e-cigs? I don't want to carry around a big honking looking thing, but would be willing to try a different kind of mini - maybe the 901?

I ordered a bunch of different flavors from different suppliers on Sunday, so I'm hoping I'll get one or two orders in tomorrow and I'll have a different flavor to try. I'll post my findings.

Also just placed an order for Halo Smooth 8 - so looking forward to that one and hoping / praying that it stays true to tobacco w/o the sickly taste.

Thanks

Actually, the 510 does justice to very many flavours.
The ones that might be tricky are the very delicate ones; Parma Violet is one I definitely prefer on a 901, even better on a 901 on a 510 battery, that is, with even less power. Fruity ones many prefer on ohter atties, too, can't say much about that, since I don't vape fruity.
Tobacco flavours and other strong ones, OTOH, are the ones I don't like very much on a 901.

Get a few KR8 batteries and 901 atties, and try it for yourself. Or wait for the BabyJ, 801 atties are said to be even better for delicate ones. Leak like hell, though.

AlexTM, I don't vape any fruits or chocolates either. I'm trying to find that perfect tobacco flavored e-juice for me! :) So, I had been vaping the 555 and Kent from nhaler and 555 and DK-Tab from cignot.

Since cleaning my atty's last night, I have been vaping the juices from cignot. And the taste is there but very very subdued.

Now, I really think / feel that the taste is more prominent in the juices from nhaler. I don't think it had anything to do with my atty's. But nonetheless it was good to clean them because they are performing more up to par now.

So, since I'm only looking to ever vape smokey/tobacco flavors, do you having any recommendations either on the juice or the atty/battery?

Thanks

I used to give them a Coke bath every week, but now I just let them drain overnight and use the Highping dry burn method whenever I notice a drop in vapor or have a burnt taste that won't go away.

Well, I DIY, and I am perfectly happy with the Tobacco Absolut from Perfumers Apprentice.

However, you also have to take into account the fact that your taste buds are probably still recovering, I'd say it's at least a month until you can really taste again, and liquids seem to change their taste considerably in that month or so. So I would not yet stock up on anything you like now, nor would I throw away anything you don't like at the moment - both may change within a fairly short time.

I agree, don't throw any juice out. What tastes like crap today may taste good in a month and what tastes good today may taste like crap in a month.

LOL! Thank larktdl and AlexTM. I will check out Tobacco Absolut from Perfumers Apprentice.

DC2, thanks again! Will get into the habit of doing this every night.

Will post my findings of other juices!!! I should have one or two in the mail today when I get home! :)

Hi VapingBoy,

I have had no problem with a burnt taste during vaping, but I can address your need for a real tobacco flavor, as that is ALL I am even vagually interested in when I "smoke" (the candy/pie flavours just don't sound like my cup of java!). Therefore, I am always on the lookout for the most analogue-like tobacco taste in juices.

Here is what I found:

To my taste buds, the best/strongest tobacco taste is from NJOY's regular carts. However, at an amusing (i.e., INSANE) cost of about $17 per 5 carts, they ain't getting any more of my business! So I now go with juices only (with one limited exception below), and while my experience is limited, I have tried:

Johnson's Creek
1. JC Original Smoke Juice
2. JC Tennessee Cured Smoke Juice
3. JC Domestic Smoke Juice.

All of these JC tobacco-like flavours, I have found, had a very strange (and overpowering) taste that I found quite offensive. I sent them all back to JC ASAP. (JC gladly, and without the slightest problem, took them back. JC is a really great and honest company to deal with!).

Next, I tried CIGNOT's tobacco flavoured items:
1. Joye 510 Prefilled Cartridges Marlb Low (6mg Nicotine)
2. ECOpure Rich 5ml, 10mg Nicotine
3. VG Dunhill 26mg 5ml (Deluxe Tobacco)
4. VG Marlb (USA MIX) 26mg 5ml
5. ECOpure Regular 5ml, 0mg Nicotine
6. VG 555 0mg 5ml (3 & 5)
7. VG Tobacco 0mg 5ml
8. VG Turkish Tobacco Blended 0mg 5ml

All of these tobacco-like flavours, excluding ECOpure, I enjoyed. While they do not have the strong tobacco taste of NJOY's carts, I like them a lot (but, again, they are rather mild in tobacco flavour). The ECOpure, for some reason, I found did not quite fit my taste preferences. Also, just as an FYI, I found that they all had a very similar taste (except ECOpure) so, for instance, I didn't find that the Dunhill tasted that much different from the Turkish Blend. (Since I am not much of a connoisseur of anything (such as wine or food), I cannot give you exacting taste descriptions, but only what I feel is a tobacco flavour and what I feel is not).

I would like to find a richer tobacco juice experience someday, but for now CIGNOT fits my needs nicely.

Hope this helps.

Best,

-Droopy

I love cignot but their dekang juices aren't wonderful (their fruity BASIC range of juices and ecopure line however are awesome). Having said that - I do use their RY4 and like it :)
I really really love the 555 by DIYFlavorshack (called shack555) though and their RY4 is supposed to be awesome too and not overly sweet (just ordered it as the store is open again after the owner was in hospital! yeah! can't wait!). They are on the approved supplier list btw, so easy to find :)
As for taste loss - I think most of us go through some kind of 'this tastes like nothing today' deal - there's a thread on it in fact http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/where-can-i-get/74942-i-think-my-tastebuds-comatose.html which you may interesting.

I've got flavor ADD, so I find that I need to change flavors every few hours, especially if the flavor is weak to begin with. My taste buds just get used to the flavor and need a little "shock" now and then.

It happens with VG liquid more then it does with the PG, as VG has a lighter taste to begin with, so after a while it just tastes like cream to me. That's why I like to have a nice variety of flavors.

Droopy, thanks for the detailed response! I did try the Ecopure - Regular from cignot and I don't believe I got the sickly taste from it. I'll have to try it again to be sure. I'll try the Rich as well. My problem is that I can't handle VG - causes a strange sensation in my lungs; almost like they are constricting. I had bought cignot's 555 in VG both 0mg and 26mg to mix in order to reduce the nic mg. Vaping that causes this behavior. I don't remember getting the same from Ecopure; so I'll have to try it one more time.

I agree with your assesment that they all taste pretty much the same! I find that to be the case too. :(

I do have JC (Tenn Cured) on order and am expecting it in the next day or so. As well as the Halo Smooth 8. Too bad they are out of Freedom. Would love to try that one. I'm hoping one of the two will fit my taste - God I hope! Because I'm getting really tired of having to vape this perfume stuff from the other vendors. I'll put an order in for the Ecopure, just to try it again.

CaptJay, that is one place I haven't tried. Are you sure, DIY doesn't use Dekang? I'll check it out - tks for the suggestion!

domino38 / KuiHiggins - thank u both. I'll take your suggestions and increase the water intake as well as a soda here and there to keep the taste buds refreshed!!!

Looks like Dawn at DIYFlavorShack will use either the China Liquid or US Liquid: This is directly from her website:

"
DiyFlavorShack will be using The Original Special China Made Eliquid that made us Exceptional. I do have USA Liquid and will use it until it is gone. I will not be at the Mercy of Hugh Prices and a Fast Buck so I will Use exactly what i was using before the USA liquid came to be. I never felt that the USA Liquid was any better than China as we will try to find a reasonable priced juice as of right now we use both China and USA. We want to keep the prices at a good price. "

Now, I don't know if the "The Orignal Special China Made Eliquid" is Dekang or not?

It seems that any liquid that I vape, by night time, it ends up tasting the same. I want to say that it ends up tasting like nicotine. I somehow lose the flavor of the liquid itself and end up only tasting the nicotine or the PG

Yeah, I´ve read a lot of comments like that. They tend to taste the same. I´m currently using KR808 i don´t even recall the brand and I use tobacco flavors from different suppliers and in the end they seem to taste the same, some better some worse. I haven´t found a taste yet best for me. So keep on looking and let us know when you get something better.
