The stickys are great - but not all makes sense to me as a non-smoker.

Anyone have any initial advice for purchasing this for my DH?

All I can really say is that he smokes marlboro lights cigarettes and buys a pack about every other day.

I want to make the best choice for helping him stop the cigarettes and hope to closely match his taste and habbit.

GREATLY APPRECIATE a point in the right direction!

Hello rjc! Welcome to ECF, and what a lucky man your husband is. :)

There are basically two starter models that are raved about: The Joye 510 and the Kr808D-1.

The Joye 510 is famous for getting tons of vapor. It is a 3-piece design that uses an atomiser. The taste, to me, is what I would describe as "clean." It has a somewhat soft throat hit. As a light smoker, he may like this.

The KR808D-1 is a 2-piece cartomizer system, which is a very simple design, and great for someone who wants a more hassle-free experience. It has a stronger throat hit than the 510, and the taste is "rich" to me. However, it doesn't get as much vapor production as the 510.

Both models are slightly longer and thicker than a 100 cigarette, but still cig-shaped, and small.

You can pick up either kit for $35-45. With that, I'd recommend you get a spare battery, and extra atomisers or cartomizers.

As far as nicotine level, it's hard to say. The level of nicotine a person needs doesn't always correlate perfectly with how they smoked.

For example, I smoked 30 a day, full flavor, and sometimes without filters. But 18mg is the highest nicotine content I can use, even though that's considered "medium."

I would recommend he buy a couple of small sample bottles of 12mg and 18mg.

For kits, I had a great experience with ElectroNicStix. They also sell Boss juice, which I have not tried, but heard good things about.

I really love the juice from FreedomSmokeUSA, though. They mix it by hand, to order.

If you have more questions let us know!

MistressNomad - Thank you kindly for taking the time to give me so much info. This is the perfect push in the right direction. He did try it a few times when we visited a friend who just got it ,but never followed up with getting started. I think you gave me the perfect lead as to not waste alot of money until we know what suites him. THANKS AGAIN!! Congrats to you on quitting the cigs and I hope you are feeling healthier already!

Petem - Thanks for the link! I will get studying! BTW....ADORABLE PUP!!!!!

I smoked 1/2 pack a day of lights up until a few months ago. I bought a 510 a while back and haven't smoked since. I tried one after a few weeks and I won't ever go back. MistressNomad is giving good advice. KR808 for ease of use, 510 if you want more control. The 510 gives a good amount of vapor and throat hit, both essential to replicate the smoking experience for most of us. Manual batteries help in that regard. Both the KR808 and the 510 would likely work to turn your DH into a nonsmoker. I used 18mg juice when I first started, but I would chain vape first thing in the morning. I went to 24mg and now everything is ok. My suggestion would be to buy a few sample bottles of different flavors and strengths to find the one that gives the right amount of nicotine and good flavor. Juices are cheap but they are essential to an enjoyable experience.
