I've searched for hours on the best/cheapest places to buy PG,VG,Nic,syringes and flavoring and there's just too much out there! Then there's the issue of what should and should not be in the flavoring. I only want to make a juice that's 1.5nic with a low PG content but not 100%VG, something like 30/70. I know about the calculators that can help me achieve this. I've read some threads that suggest buying small quantities of things, which I think is a good idea. Is there really a difference between the brands of nicotine? It seems so simple, yet so expensive and vast. My main confusion point is the flavoring, where do I find good "healthy" flavoring that doesn't cost an outrageous amount? And how much do I actually need to buy? Someone out there has to know where to get this stuff for a good price.

Here's a couple suggestions that may be of help to you. It's what I did when I wanted to buy enough supplies, PG, VG, Nic Base, flavorings, etc. to see if I even liked DIY, before ordering any large amounts of things.

(1) First, I found several recipes I wanted to try, that required some of the same flavorings & sweeteners to make them. That way I could order fewer flavorings, but still be able to make at least 6-8 different eliquids. I put those flavorings on my "to buy" list.

(2) Then I found 2-3 more recipes that maybe only required a couple additional different flavorings and sweeteners to be able to make them. Added them to my "to buy" list also.

(3) I then checked out several different places to order any of the liquids I needed, and decided on Wizard Labs, here in Florida. Not only would it take less time for me to get my stuff, but I also liked that they were an FDA registered company, and their flavorings, PG, VG, Nic Base, etc. all came in a variety of sizes, including smaller ones. They also carry quite a few of the DX versions of flavorings, which I liked (the "healthy ones", as you call them).

I placed my first order then from them for:
* The flavorings that were on my "to buy" list (in the 8mL vial size for $1.49 each x 20 flavorings = $29.80) You don't have to buy that many though. I just got carried away and found 10-12 recipes I wanted to try. You could start with enough to make 4-6 recipes and buy less.

* A 120mL bottle of PG @ $3.19

* A 120mL bottle of 24mg Nic Base in VG @ $7.49
(that could be used to make 9.6 50mL bottles of my eliquid at 6mg Nic). I bought it in VG since I use a 40PG/60VG ratio for my eliquids. *At your 1.5mg Nic...you could make much more though, from the same size bottle and Nic strength.

* 1mL, 3mL, and 5mL syringes (3 of each) and Blunt Tip Luer-Lock needles in 14ga, 16ga, and 18ga (3 of each). If you buy 3 there was a small quantity discount, so the tips cost me <$6 total, and the syringes were all a total of <$5

(4) I had already gotten a 177mL bottle of VG at my local Walmart, since someone mentioned they carried it. It cost me $3.86 total, and I could make 10 50mL bottles of finished eliquids with it at my 40PG/60VG ratio.

(5) I already had some smaller empty bottles to do some sample size eliquids testing in them, and some used, thoroughly cleaned, 50mL plastic dropper bottles for my finished liquids. I also had an assortment of beakers, graduated cylinders, etc. from my teaching Science days...but found I didn't even really need them since I made my eliquids right into the bottles using the syringes!

(6) A few pair of gloves a fellow vaper gave me, but could be bought from Walmart for about $3.00 total.

The investment to "get me started" in DIY, so I could find out if I liked it or not, and I'd end up with at least (9) 50mL bottles, or more smaller sized ones...was very small = $55.34 + $6 S/H. Plus, I didn't use anywhere near all of the flavorings I'd bought, to make those bottles of liquid!

So, you CAN get started for relatively small expense to see if you even like it. After that, buy the PG + VG by the gallon, the Nic Base in liters, and the flavorings in 1 oz or 4oz bottles for even greater savings overall.

I knew before starting DIY at all, that I was paying about $14 per 50mL for my eliquids I was regularly buying. The 10 bottles I could make with my initial investment...would've cost me $140 + S/H from my regular source of ready-made liquids. That's a really big cost savings! Plus...it's lots of fun DIY!

:D

i always use myfreedomsmokes.com they have a wide variety of options and DIY kits to help get you started. they also have videos of what you might need and how to use them, its essentially a one stop shop. certain things are more expensive then other websites, but i find the majority of it is a pretty good deal! plus they always have offers and coupons going on. you definitely do not need everything they have in there whole DIY kit however. they also have flavour sample packs containing 5 different concentrated flavours for like 14.95 (15ml bottles) they also give quick and informative customer service in my experience. I would recommend checking them out! good luck and have fun!

Is not having flavoring an option?? How bad can it be?
Sure it's an option which several of us here use :) Try it out to see if it's for you, e.g. my all-day-vape is 95/5% VG/water at 3mg, as I don't like the taste of PG.

Cheapest nic with great reputation is VapersTek throat-hit nic for 25bucks a liter and they also have VG/PG and flavors too... Check out Essential-depot or bulk-apothecary for very cheap bulk VG/PG when you're sure that DIY is for you..

@JCinFLA I'm just going to stalk you and like your posts apparently today..

I agree with him though considering you pay 15 to 25 dollars for a 30ml bottle of vape these days so... DIY is a good way to go.. it isn't as hard as it seems if you can cook you can probably do this.. using a microwave isn't cooking though just saying..

@WhatsAWho02 - OK...you've got to be from the South, too, right? Talking like that'll give you away every time!:)

Seriously though, think positively! You have the same odds that what you make will turn out wonderful, as the odds that it'll turn out terrible. Even if it turns out what you think is terrible though at first...there's often something you can either do to it to make it at least vapable, or..."jus' let it set thare" for several days and see if the taste miraculously changes for the better! Flushing is, and always should be, a very last option...in my personal opinion anyway. :D
