Hello all,

A little history first. I am a 20+ year 1PAD smoker, and I'm interested in vaping for harm reduction.

I just bought my first e-cig yesterday, it's a eGo-C and uses the lil iClear 16 tip/reservoir attachment. The juice I'm using is Indigo Vapor (Calypso Flavor) at 18mg/ml Nicotine.

The tip/reservoir is marked in ml, and this one holds up to 1.6 ml.

My question is: How much of this liquid am I supposed to be using a day?

I've read on the forum that some folks go through up to 6ml a day! I'm kind of leery about giving myself a nicotine overdose, so I've been pretty cautious with my vaping. I'm also leery that if I don't use this thing right, I'll suffer from nicotine withdrawal and give up on vaping.

That being said, I'm not REALLY craving an analog and I may be over thinking the whole thing.

Any advice is appreciated.

Hi and welcome to ECF and congrats
My question is: How much of this liquid am I supposed to be using a day?

As long as you're not getting nic cravings you're okay. I began at 36 mg X 50-60 ml per week- it's what I needed. As for nic OD you'll get headaches, dizziness and/ or heart palpitations as a warning sign. Most begin at 18 or 24 mg and 3-5 ml per day is normal. Understand the delivery efficiency of nicotine via vaping is terrible as the vape particles are too large to enter the blood vessels via the lungs. Most absorption occurs in the mouth, throat and nasal areas.
Watch out for dehydration...
PG and VG are humectants...
A humectant is a substance used primarily in foods and cosmetic products to help retain moisture. These substances are called hygroscopic, which means that they are able to absorb ambient water. These hygroscopic compounds posses a chemical structure that attracts water from the atmosphere and binds it to various sites along the molecule.

When we inhale PG/ VG it "traps" the moisture in our mouth, throat and nasal area and thus the vapor. The real problem arises when the body is dehydrated and begins "stealing" moisture from other parts of the body to keep key organs hydrated. Add to that more than 3 cups of java or caffeine based soda drinks and severe dehydration can occur.
Ask any chemist and they will tell you the same. I drink 2+ liters of water per day and no more than 3 cups Java per day.

Best of Luck.

Hey there & welcome! It varies how much a person vapes a day. So for instance I vape 3-5ml per day which is in the normal range from what ive seen. You'll know when you have too much nic. You'll start to feel bad...headache, nausea etc... Nothing bad will happen if you just put the PV down & drink some water. Lol! 18mg is what I started with and I still vape between 15-18. You'll be fine. Just make sure you up your water intake as vaping can really dehydrate you. Also be sure to check out the new members section to find out more infor on nic overdose if it'll help ease your worry.

I've filled this thing up to 1.6 one time, yesterday when I bought it, and I still have over .8 left in it. I haven't been dizzy or headachey yet, I think I may have been too cautious and suffering from nicotine withdrawal. You have set my mind at ease.

:)

You can definitely vape more if you want. I go through at least 3+ of those i16s a day.

Better off vaping as much as you need to stay off analogs because as it has been said, you will know long before you are in any danger if you have over done it.

So its not 100% but think of one cig as around 1 to 2 mg of nic. So if you smoked 1 pack you were getting around 20 or more mg of nic a day (this is just an estimate since it depends on what your smoking, how many drags and so forth) but if you are using 18 mg juice and you vape 1 ml then you have consumed 18 mg of nic. I usually vape around 2 ml of juice a day and my juice varies from 9 mg to 12 mg. I started with 18 but quickly moved down. Hope this helps...remember these are just estimates.

To add to this (good enough for a rough estimate) estimate, also keep in mind you actually only absorb 30-50% of the nicotine when vaping that you would when smoking.

Use it as much as you like as long as you learn the signs of too much nic. Starting out, it was the headaches that was the sign for me to take a break. For me now, a slight tightness of the chest/racing pulse is the first subtle sign I might miss. After that I do get a little shaky. After that would come the headaches if I went that far. You can either cut your nic or your vaping if you need to.

I vape about 6ml of 18 mg these days but some delivery devices work better than others. When I first started using RBAs, I seriously considered cutting my nic.
