I have takwen apart almost all commercial box mods and find the chip and surrounding area of the ipv2 has the cleanest build of all of them....imho

If you have that much experience with box mods, would you be able to maybe make a DIY for those who wish to fix the ipv without having to send it in? I am sure that would be greatly accepted on this board.

Just a little FYI, The AsMODus people after getting your mod are "ASKING" you to pay return shipping... Nowhere is it mentioned prior to sending, so its like RANSOMING your mod! You have no choice but to pay! So technically if your iPV2 conks out you must pay double shipping (there & back) but they didn't tell you till they have your mod... How ethical of them. Regreting this purchase already...

It was the way they went about it that got me... They don't say anything about it on there site, they only tell you AFTER YOUR MOD IS IN THEIR MITTS! Kinda grimey...

Personally I would fight that! In the warranty information it only says the customer has to pay the cost of shipping it to them, not both ways.
I'm not joking, point this out to them, and fight it with all your might. That is not cool and they can't change the warranty information as they wish, they have to honor what it does say.

If asmodus won't comply and pay for the shipping back to you then I would take it up with Pioneer4You. Don't let them take advantage of you like that!

Edit to add
I just emailed both P4Y and asMODus about this, I should have replies in a couple days and will post what I hear on this newest debacle. This better get fixed the right way!

Federal warranty law: "If necessary for clarity, you must also explain what you will not do. This requires a description of the types of expenses, if any, that you will not cover. These might include, for example, labor charges, consequential damages (the costs of repairing or replacing other property that is damaged when the warranted product fails, such as food spoilage when a refrigerator breaks down), or incidental damages (the costs a consumer incurs in order to obtain warranty service, such as towing charges, telephone charges, time lost from work, transportation costs, and the cost of renting a product tempo~arily to replace the warranted product)."

Read the bold parts. Neither Pioneer4You or asMODus stated in the warranty that they weren't responsible for shipping costs to return the device to you after warranty repair, so legally they ARE RESPONSIBLE!!!

Don't let asMODus take advantage of you, they HAVE TO pay for the shipping costs to return it to you after you paid to send it to them. There are federal laws to protect against this sort of thing!

That's good to know but it is to late for me since mine is already in their hands. How long after they received your mod did they tell you. They have had mine since the 4 of Sept and I haven't heard anything yet. Sucks considering it wasn't working right upon arrival so I have had no experience with this mod at all.

They called last night to tell me that I need to pay shipping for the return of my mod. I emailed p4u, but they have not bothered to reply. I've contacted them in the past and never got a reply. Will not be getting there products again! Customer service is horrible!

...

Companies are forbidden by law from changing the terms and conditions of warranties after the fact. The warranty on their site only states that you have to pay the shipping to asMODus.

Understanding the Magnuson-Moss
Warranty Act

Disclaimer or Modification of Implied Warranties
The Act prohibits anyone who offers a written warranty from disclaiming or modifying implied warranties.

Tell asMODus that you expect them to honor their warranty as written on their website or you will be notifying the California Attorney General's office that they are violating the law.

This is exactly what is going to have to happen. I just got off the phone with asMODus and he told me straight up that he has no intention of looking up the laws regarding warranties, nor does he plan to follow them unless made to do so by an attorney.

He also said that no one has complained directly to them about this issue so he doesn't care to fix it. I urge others to do the same thing I did and call them and complain to them about this. Bring up that there are federal laws governing this matter that they have to follow. If more people call and complain about this then we are more likely to see a resolution out of it.

DO NOT PAY RETURN SHIPPING , this is war .

That dude, whoever he is, better change his attitude and policy real quick or he and P4U will cuss the day they decided to get into the mod and repair business in the first place.

Confirmed. I just got off the phone with them and they are stating that it would be my responsibility to pay for shipping back to me.

NO WAY, NO HOW, NO SHOT of that happening . Prepare for the tidal wave because it's coming and it's taking no prisoners.

WHAT!!!, thats outrageous , if they can't fix it asap they need to send a quick replacement , that is unbelievable . Time to start raising hell folks . I expect much much quicker turn around time , totally unacceptable.

Time to start spreading the word not to buy anything P4U and to cancel the iPV IIII orders , hit em where it hurts the most as this will get their attention.

People expect fast turn around top notch warranty service and until P4U does something to change this BS (and thats exactly what it is) screw them.

I am not sure exactly who it was, they wouldn't give me a name and were EXTREMELY rude to me on the phone. When I called I said I wanted to talk to someone about Pioneer4You warranty information and they transferred me to that person. Both times I called they transferred me to the same person when I said I was calling about warranty information.

I could care less about the small amount of money it would cost for return shipping, this is about the fact that what they are doing is illegal! They are breaking the terms of the warranty, and for that they NEED to be held accountable!

If people don't call and complain, and specifically mention that what they are doing is illegal (mention Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act, title 15 of the United States Federal Law), then nothing will be done about this until someone starts a class action lawsuit.

If you own one of these devices, even if you aren't in need of warranty repair, please take 3 minutes to call asMODus and do this. What they are doing is wrong. If enough people complain it will force them to confer with their attorneys and realize they are wrong.

I'm with you man... the smy god has capability for better battery life anyways.

I'd rather get no warranty then this Chinese invasion.

Honestly, this should be seen as an act of war...but I don't know what we can do with China. Russia's never liked us..and that would be who we would need..won't be a cold war afterwards this go around though.

I would certainly follow through and report to the California Attorney General's office. Save all emails and make notes of phone calls.

I also think this would more than deserve a factual review in the ECF Supplier - Negative Reviews forum. If you are on Facebook comment on the Greenleaf/P4U reps' pages there. Reddit would be another place to spread the word.

Couldn't agree more , it's unfortunate people are paying return shipping and i understand that most would rather not fight it and just get their mod back but if everyone refused we would make more progress.

I think P4U needs to be called out , they should make it very clear to Asmodus that they MUST follow exactly what the warranty says.

I also hope that dude whoever he is, is ousted in short order . He doesn't know the meaning of integrity or customer service
