I bought a blu...so you know I need a lot of help!! but all this talk about 808 and 510 and dripping is freaking me out.
sooo whats the easiest way for a 53 (blonde) woman to get started in the right direction!!
Hi Chryl
Naaaah...you don't need much help. You found your way to ECF. The rest will be easy going.
I also used Blu. Lasted me about 2-3 days & I knew I needed more.
Here's what I learned about at ECF & placed an order 7 months ago. It's still working for me. I am happy & satisfied with this system. The first day I received it I knew I would be successful.
Kgo 1100 mah kit
Boge LR 2.0 ohm cartomizers
Johnson Creek Red Oak (100% vg) ejuice @ 24 mg nicotine strength. This is a good start for a newbie & it is versatile enough that you can expand it when you're ready.

510 is a standard thread size on your battery. Most stuff fits 510 devices.

Glad you're here. Welcome. Keep coming back.

You have already started in the right direction by coming here to this site.

When I first started vaping I bought one of those crappy cigarette styled vaporizers also and quickly realized what a waste of money that was. To each their own. I suggest starting off with some type of "Ego" battery, and maybe looking into some clearomizers or some other tank system.

I'm sure someone else will chime in with better advice, I know you're brand new to the game and yes it will be a little confusing at first but you will eventually learn all the terminology :)

Welcome

Hi Cheryl;

We all started feeling a bit overwhelmed. 510 and 801 are the types of connections that are on the end of an ecig. You use the connection to put on an atomizer or cartomizer. The atomizer (atty) or cartomizer (carto) are where the juice goes. The battery heats the juice, the carto/atty holds the juice and you put a drip tip on top so that you can put it to your mouth.

Keep posting until you reach 5, wait for the server to refresh (about an hour) and you can post on other areas of the site. If you are stuck and want to ask privately you can shoot me a pm.

Best of luck!

You will be able to get plenty of helpful advice from this website. Much general information for new users or those considering getting into vaping can be found by clicking on the above InfoZone link or here: ECF InfoZone - The is the E-cigarette Forum Information Zone, for all your ecig needs

You need to pic up at least the basic lingo or terminology that people use here. It's not hard to learn, just be patient. :)
___

You'll soon need to decide which class of battery to begin with - either something that tries to look like a cigarette or something that is just a little bigger and longer but will perform much better and give better results.

Fact - the bigger the battery, the better the e-cig will perform in terms of battery life and vapor production.

Fact - e-cigs or PV's, obviously need a charged battery to vaporize the nicotine juice. The main difference between the mini's that are cigarette sized and the eGo's are the size of the rechargable batteries that they use.

Fact - the main determining factor of which class of batteries that you decide to begin with is, "How important is it to you that your first batteries look eactly like a cigarette?"

The best place here to find general basic information is at the top of this page called "InfoZone." Many categories of info on that link, spend some time there to get aquanted with the lingo and terminology.

I'll make a couple of recommendations of product/companies for you to consider for your first vaping devices:

Cigarette lookalike or Mini-sized: Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Smokeless Image Electronic Cigarettes - The Future is in your hands

eGo intermediate-sized: AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Joye eGo Starter Kit

You don't have to order your kit from either of these two companies, but I list them as a starting point because I have used both because they carry high quality products, have excellent customer service and fast shipping, and they have earned many people's respect here at ECF as excellent companies to do business with.

Many postors will recommend an eGo Twist. AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | AltSmoke.com | eGo-C Twist Battery It's a great battery that will provide you with variable voltage, but as a beginner you don't really need it. If you can afford one, get one along with your beginner kit, or wait until you are more experienced to get one. Variable voltage is not for everyone. Your focus now should be on getting at least two batteries/APV's and e-juice/nicotine liquid.

Both above companies sell nicotine liquids. These can be used either in pre-filled cartomizers (easiest for a beginner, but more expensive), or blank cartomizers (empty) that you fill yourself from bottles of flavored nicotine liquid. I'd recommend getting some sampler packs of juice to see which flavors you will like. Everyone's tastes are different, and they may change as you progress along. Therefore, don't buy large quantities of any flavor until you are certain that you like it.

Howdy... If I may suggest. Go to Google and do a search for ECig arkansas. See if any stores are near you and pay them a visit. Nothing beats a hands on experience. They should be able to show you all the different ECigs available. It will be worth the Road Trip.

Come back here and ask questions on anything.

Sitting down, facing forward.
You made a good first step by coming to ECF. There are lots of nice folks here who can provide advice and assistance to help you along and find what works best for you.

Think about what you are really trying to accomplish. Do you want something that looks and acts like a cigarette? If so a mini system with automatic batteries like Volt is probably the best thing to try. If you don't mind something that is relatively heavy and needs one hand to operate it, IE can't be used "no hands" like a cigarette, then try an inexpensive variable voltage battery and inexpensive tank system.

I was a one to two pack a day smoker for 50 years and the Volt system has kept me off of tobacco for almost four months now and I have no desire to go back. I am a tinkerer by nature, but like the KISS principle when it comes to vaping and Volt makes that very easy. Volt/Smokeless Image uses the 808 thread system. All of their batteries are sealed to prevent damage and regulated to provide consistent performance. If you choose them, I would suggest the 78mm batteries since they have about 50% more capacity than the 65mm, IE they last about 50% longer between charges. They also offer larger batteries, X2 series, mid sized batteries as well. All of their cartomizers, clearomizers and other devices work with either the cig-a-like batteries or the larger batteries. Their customer service and shipping are excellent.

In the end the solution that works for you is the only "right" solution.

I started a handful of people at work around that age using 1100 kgo kit with clearomizers and juice flavors that sound good to them. Tried using boge cartomizers at first but it was very frustrating not knowing when to fill them, so I got them clearomizers where they could see the liquid and have had great success. The new V2 KGO kits are nice because they replace the atomizers with clearos in the kit. Good luck

I have found that an easy cheap way to get into the good e-cigs is to purchase and ego 900mah or and ego 1100mAh passthrough battery this battery will have enough power to get you through the day and since you can smoke it while charging it you dont have to buy two of them when you purchase the passthrough also buy a clearomizer tank somthing user friendly like the stardust/ce4 and then the last thing you need is a bottle of liquid of your choosing you can set yourself up like that for under 40 dollars shipped this is how i set my friends up who have already spent money on a kit and dont wanna layout a bunch on another one after that you can keep adding parts and pieces to you collection when you want something new

Surprised there aren't any blond jokes.

My advice is to get a simple little $50 starter kit to learn with. That way for less than the price of a carton of cigarettes you can decide you even like vaping.
    Like this one
    eGo 2.5 Ohm Cartomizer Kit

Once you have the basics down, and know what direction you would like to go with vaping your little starter kit can become your backup PV.

Welcome! I studied this site for 6 months before I made my first purchase; a 510 kit. I quickly found that as a 2-pack a day smoker that 510's weren't going to last long enough and switched to Ego batteries. Much has happened in the industry in the 2 years that I've been smoke free. I now use the Ego C upgrade batteries 1100 mah; these have a lockdown function that I love and they last longer than the Ego 650 mah batteries I had been buying. I use LR Boge Cartomizers but I am going to try a clearomizer tank soon. LR gives me a heavier draw than the regular cartomizers and a vapor amount that I love.

Chryl, Congratulations on getting your feet wet. The best advice you have been given so far is to read, read, read. I spent 3 days reading in ECF's information Zone before I even felt comfortable asking a question. You will find much info there on all aspects of vaping equipment and how to use it. You will also become more familiar with the terminology so you can follow what posters are talking about. That was the most confusing for me... ;-)~

There is only suggestion I would personally make at this point. Since you already purchased a Blu,(Your Blue has 510 threads) you may want to think about staying with the 510 connection. You can keep your Blu as a back up battery since anything you buy with 510 threads (atomizers, cartomizers etc.) will fit on your blue. Just be patient and try not to get frustrated. Good Luck!

    Chryl:

After reading all the above posts, I bet you're darn near as confused as when you started, huh?

I'm pretty new too, and that's how I felt. But I hung around, read posts, asked questions, learned a little more each time, checked out different sites before I bought anything and finally began to put it all together.

It took me awhile and I felt dumb at first but gradually learned enough to feel comfortable and to ask useful questions. Just don't quit trying to figure it out, eventually it'll all make sense if you ask questions.

All the acronyms and abbreviations threw me at first, then I found the abbreviations thread and that helped some and I learned to figure more of them out from the context as I went along. Ask questions and pay attention to the simple answers not the ones you don't understand yet.

I've been almost two weeks now without a smoke, since the day I got my starter kit, and at times I felt like chucking it all and going back to cigs because I was overwhelmed and felt stupid, like I was in a shoeshine boy in a room full of neuro-surgeons and I even know all my letters and the times-tables up to the sevens. You gotta be smarter than that. Just stick with it, you'll get it.

Oh, yeah: ask questions and press on regardless!

I'm new here too. You think you're confused now, just wait! There are so many different levels of stuff out there, it starts one's head spinning.

I started with a v2, another cig-a-like, and wish I had found this forum first. I have found there are much better choices, and the fine people here say a good lower end choice is the Joyetech Ego Twist. You'll get loads more vapor from a Twist, and I feel you'll be happier. I know, already spent the money on what you have, I did too. So, lesson learned.

Agree with Bullette on the Kgo. eGo fires at 3.4 volts while the Kgo fires at 3.7 volts and is slightly cheaper. Whether it's a Kgo or an eGo be wary of purchasing the outdated "tank system" Kit- atomizer+ cartridge as they're prone to leaks. Stick with the cartomizers or the Mini Vivi Nova Tank.

I forgot to mention a downside to cruising the forum to learn about ecigs: almost every time I read enough posts or threads to learn something new, I ended up going to a vendor's site and buying something. Of course, that's just me, probably doesn't happen to most people.

    btraven

Lol yeah this happens to me. I have been buying ejuice for 3 weeks, and I have 20 bottles, with an order still to come. I also have a couple of juice vendors I want to try. My friend, who I got started into vaping a cpl of weeks ago, keeps laughing at me and telling me to put my credit card down, and backup slowly :p

OMG I hated those tanks that came with my Ego T kit! hated them, almost made me give up, I mean the atomizer/tank was 13 bucks a piece at the brick and mortar store where I got my kit and just awful (leaked, if you got a bad tasting juice in there you didn't like, very hard to clean, etc.!). Thankfully a few people here on the forum recommended an Ego mega dual coil cartomizers (that fit on Ego and/or 510 battery), and now they have the short version which I love Black 1.5 Ohm eGo Mega Dual Coil Short Cartomizer. I'm pretty much stuck on them now.

If I had to to do over I'd get just an ego battery and the short emdcc and possibly a few other cartomizers/tanks to try out. 2.79 for an emdcc that lasts longer than the original atomizer's that came with my Ego T kit, much much better!! I'm pretty comfortable with this set up for now. One day in the future when I feel a little braver I'll try a twist or variable volt but I'm good for now and still off cigarettes after pack a day for 35 years! I didn't even intend to quit when I got my kit just thought I might cut down and I've tried smoking a few cigarettes along the way and they just tasted so horrible! Why do that when there's Heather's Heavenly Vapes blueberry muffin and peanut butter cookie???

Yay! me and thanks to all the good folks here who helped along the way!
