hi all! tomorrow's a month for me with no cigs after 30 years. still cant believe how easy it was to quit with vaping.
I have managed to convert my best friend's wife & my next door neighbor. got a Kanger evod on the way for my friend at work. still working on two other close friends. I think they're all amazed------the old saying if I can do it anyone can!!!!! hahahah.

anyways, I saw in another thread, someone posted they had bleeding gums. I dont have the 5 posts in yet so I couldnt ask about it in that thread. Have many people had this problem & does it go away?

My gums bleed & hurt every morning when I floss now. I have had to completely stop using my Oral B Waterpik because it is just too painful. I know smoking causes your gums to receed, but I would never have thought vaping would cause this. i would think my gums would love me for eliminating all those nasty toxins.

thanks for all replies.
hoping this is just a temporary side affect.

Hi DJ769 and welcome to ECF! I was the one how mentioned bleeding gums on the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/558128-what-expext-after-quitting-analogs.html thread in the General E-Smoking Discussion Forum. When I first started researching vaping as an alternative to smoking, I read numerous--numerous!--quit smoking stories and discussions of what one might expect both from quitting smoking and beginning vaping. Bleeding/sensitive gums was one of the side-effects of quitting smoking due to increased blood flow. Mine hasn't stopped yet, but I expect it will over time. If it lasts too long, well, then I'll seek professional help.

When you stop smoking it increases blood flow to your gums making it easier for them to bleed. It should go away after a bit, mine did. Also I know one person that had to lower the PG ratio because it seemed to cause theirs to bleed. They simply when to a 50/50 mix and it went away.

I agree. My gums bled for about 1.5 years. I went to a periodontist and he told me that it is because of the increased bloodflow to the gums after quitting cigs.

There have been many people discussing this exact issue over the years. Keep flossing and brushing frequently. It will eventually stop.

If you are very concerned about it, you may want to see a periodontist in order to rule out any gum disease though.

Hang in there and good luck ;)

First, congratulations on a month! It'll be a month for me too in a few days. Yay! It feels good, doesn't it!?! :D

I hope it's just temporary for you. It was for me. My gums started bleeding and feeling sore from flossing four or five days after I started vaping. This lasted for about a week or so and now they are back to normal. I had no idea vaping was the culprit. It could be my imagination, but i think my gums look a little pinker (healthier) now. And I do imagine my lungs looking pinker and healthier too!

Keep us updated and good luck!

My gums have been bleeding but I thought this was due to an over due cleaning. Now that I think of it they are not bleeding now and I go to dentist tomorrow for deep cleaning. I can finally get teeth whitened....YEAH!!!

Teeth whitening! YES! I'm using the over-the-counter stuff right now, but saving up to have it done professionally. Now my manicure lasts so much longer too...no more yellow index and middle fingernails! Oh, the perks of being a non-smoker. Endless. Priceless.

Sorry...back on topic now.

Let's be clear here: smoking was the culprit in depriving our gums of oxygen. Quitting smoking is responsible for the bleeding gums. Vaping only allowed us to quit. :)

Ok, timely dentist visit today; had a cleaning. While my dentist was fairly unhelpful (probably due to lack of vapers in his office), I noticed that the bleeding reduced dramatically less than an hour later when I brushed. I think regular cleanings will help a lot; without tarter buildup below the gumline, there is less irritation when brushing or water picking.
