Glad everyone is fine, well minus the few years it scared out of everyone. batteries are funny creatures,
they really have to be transported or stored in their own container.
As xSoyer pointed out, you can re-purpose old Rx bottles.
Double duty, saves recycling and makes a happy home for the batteries.

Given you couldn't open it, the metal zipper may be welded closed. If so, that was probably the source of your problem.

Glad everyone is OK ... another lesson, don't carry all your backups in the same purse ... theft or fire, always nice to have something to fall back on.
