I have the exact same kind (same supplier), the only place I could use mine is in a port directly from the PC. However, it does have a safety mechanism built in that shuts the passthrough off when it gets too hot, I believe. At least, when I was heavily vaping it would blink and I would have to disconnect and reconnect. It's a good little passthrough, but you may want to reinforce the end with some electrical tape. I used the past tense because just two days ago, mine gave up the ghost. It has a short in the wire where it goes into the battery and it only works if I hold the wire steady in one hand and the passthrough in the other. Tears! I could not use it in my car charger even though it says the power is great enough and I couldn't use it with a wall wart. Oh yeah, it doesn't need to charge, it just needs a sufficient power source.

I don't get it then. It's going into a AC adapter into a wall outlet. I just got it to work for 1 vape and then the blue light flashed on the tip and it stopped working again:(

I don't want to use it in my PC. My Dell is from 2005 and is living on a wing and a prayer because I play games every evening on it:)

Okay, just tried it attached to my PC and the same thing happens. I inhale and the tip starts flashing blue and goes out. What does that signify if the same thing happens via the PC usb port and the USB to AC wall adapter too? I'm using a regulAR 510 atty that came with my starter kit.

Thank you,

Lori

I've had that same PT(mine is copper color) for 2 months now and LOVE it. I loved it so much I bought two more as backups when the one I use all the time dies some day. There is no charging of any battery as its a direct PT. When I first plug it in the light does flash and then goes out. When pressing the button on mine the light is on and it is working. Light out- not working. After its plugged in it should operate just like a regular 510 but much better since it is 5VT. Looks like you've got the required 5VT 2 amp AC unit to plug into the wall.

I'd be concerned that it could be a bad AC to USB and it could be, but if it does the same thing when plugged into your computer its likely the PT that is bad. Unfortuantely duds do happen so if you can't get it to work properly contact Electronicstix and I'm sure they will replace it. (asking you to to return the bad PT to them).

I don't understand why it isn't working from the USB/AC adapter.
This should be the ultimate setup.
I was about to buy these same items myself.
I hope someone with experience can explain this problem.

This PT is rated really high on madvapes too so it must work great for some folks! I got about $40 invested between the PT and the 2 wall adapters- yes, I bought a wrong adapter first LOL! I just shouldda bought 3 Joye Mega batteries instead LOL!

mAh is a battery capacity rating, an indication of how long a battery can be expected to supply current before needing to be recharged. This is not applicable to an AC USB adapter which should provide current on demand indefinitely as long as it is plugged into an AC outlet and its amperage capacity (2 amp) is not exceeded. Judging from other peoples experience, it seems that the inconsistent performance of the PTs is more than likely a problem with the AC USB adapters.

It could very well be that the AC USB adapter's current capability is being exceeded, which is dependant on the resistance of the atomizer being used since the voltage should be a constant 5v.

For Example:
3 ohm atomizer will draw ~1.66 amp (5v/3ohm). NO PROBLEM
2.5 ohm atomizer will draw ~2 amp (5v/2.5ohm). BORDERLINE
2 ohm atomizer will draw ~2.5 amp (5v/2ohm). TOO MUCH
1.5 ohm atomizer will draw ~3.33 amp (5v/1.5ohm). WAY TOO MUCH

Looks like any atomizer below 2.5 ohms is a problem.

All I can say is good luck to you. I've bought 3 different PTs in the past 2 months and not one of them has worked consistently. Been nothing but a major PITA.

That's what the brilliant modders here on ECF need to work on.... a PT that works!!

lol. In fact, there are a ton of threads on how to do just that in the modders forum. Do a search of USB PT in the forum, or just scan for a few pages of threads. I'm not even sure which one to point you to. Basically, the simplest one is an old USB cord, a 3.0 amp button and an atty connector in a housing. Mine has been working for months with no issues (nah, nah, na, nah nah.....). :p You do need to solder though (use lead free solder). You can get the connector from an old dead battery if you wish.

It's a great 1st modders project!

I'm still wary of passthroughs, even after 2 years.
I would say that the electronics themselves can be engineered better, I'm not saying we need nanny-electronic laws, but the developers should have higher QC and temperature regulation so they don't damage the attys.
Then again the attys themselves should be built to higher longevity standards.
