I am still new to the world of vaping....I do wish I had tried this a lot sooner. I have not had or craved a cigarette since the day I got my e-cig which is totally awesome. Anyway, I am just wondering what are the benefits of a passthrough? Other than seeing pictures of them I have no idea what it even is. Is it just another e-cig that you plug into a USB port instead of just using the typical battery? Do you all like them better?

Do not plug your passthrough into a computer's USB unless you are positive it's ok for the PT you got. Most PT's draw more current than a PC USB is specced to provide. Worst case, you could damage your computer. But an AC to USB that says it is for that PT or buy a 2amp USB to AC.

Some PTs provide higher voltage than the batteries of the same cig, for a hotter vape.

i may have to try one of those. i'm a web designer who spends more time on the computer than not.

A PT would be perfect for you.

Dormouse is right about this. The ones that have inline batteries are safer to use with your computer...or at least I haven't killed anything yet. However, I've had the batteries die on me. They take a 10440 battery so if you go with this, buy some spare batteries. The ones without the inline battery are more along 5v vaping which most USB ports can't support it but if you have a wall outlet close, have the 2 amp plug in (madvapes carries them), then you'll be in Heaven.

so they actually run off a battery? i thought you just plug them in and they run off electricity.

The eGo passthroughs I have are actually just rechargeable batteries that are configured so you can still vape from them while they are charging off a USB port. Those are safe to plug into a computer. I've never seen an eGo passthrough like this but, there are others that are not batteries that draw all their power from the USB. Those could fry your motherboard.

Among the PTs with batteries, some have a hardwired USB cord and others have a mini-USB socket up front that takes an unpluggable cord. The advantage of the latter, of course, is that it doubles as pass-through and a battery in its own right when USB power isn't present. (Well, that's true with the hardwired ones as well, but it's kind of a hassle dealing with an ever-present cord that's not plugged into anything.)

Some have batteries, and some don't. The 5V PT doesn't use a battery. Just screw the atty or carto onto it, and vape away. You will need the USB AC adapter rated at 2 amps to use the one for the 510/eGo style. There is a link to Mad Vapes in an above post. Just look around the site a bit, and I'm sure you'll find what you need.
