passthru question?

I want to get a PT for my KR8 and I've seen posts where people say to use a hub or an ac/dc converter...okay...I'm not very tech savvy so can someone point me to a specific product? I don't know anything about amps or volts either.

USB 2.x is rated for 500ma only, or 2.5watts (EI=P)

Using E^2/R (twice voltage over resistance equals watts)
3.7 volts at 3.2 ohm = 4.2 w
3.7 volts at 2.0 ohm avg = 6.8 w

Thus, unless there is a battery or capacitor on that passthru, you're beyond spec. Doesn't mean it won't work, just the load is beyond what USB was designed for. The iphone usb supply tends to be rated at 2A, Ipad ~2.5A.

You could use a passthru OR charge up to 4 batteries on it. (though I need to use 3 cable-type battery to USB adapters to fit them in next to each other and I have one short no-cable fat adapter on the end).

You might be able to charge 1 battery while using a PT - depends on the power draw of the PT and I think that would depend on the ohms of the carto you are using and I don't know the calculation. The adapter puts out 1 amps max.

Great question! I too have a KR808 and have been thinking about getting a passthrough for while I'm sitting in front my computer (which is ALL the time lately!). Looking forward to someone more knowledgeable answering this question!

I use a belkin 4 port USB hub for my pass thru and chargers e-9 and 501 battery.the belkin transformer is rated at over1 amp.alot more power than you will ever need

That's the one I love -- 2 amps, two ports, and very low-profile.

I currently have three of them, one at each of my desks and one by my bed. It's especially handy to be able to recharge a batt while using the PT.
