PCB for 3.7V Li-ion Battery

Can anyone tell me if using an unprotected battery with a “PCB for 3.7V Li-ion Battery” board is as safe as just using a protected battery? Besides taking up more room inside and more wires are there any negatives I have not thought about?

This is designed for a single battery and you'll have to charge the battery through it or use a charger that is designed for charging unprotected batteries.

Only problems that I can see at the moment.

Thanks for the info. It will be part of my mod. So when the battery is being used, it will discharge through it.

I also have a "plug" on the mod to charge it, so the battery will always be connected to the board.
