When I'm out or driving I use a KR808D-1. I don't particularly like the flavors or harsh throat hit from it, but I can feel the nicotine, and it's convenient. All of the above problems are worse with the USB passthrough, except that delivers a lot more vapor. I've tried several different vendors, and it's always like that.

What I want is a different model that delivers more vapor but cooler temperature vapor, with less of a throat hit, and which brings out the flavor the best. Preferably one I could just plug into a USB port but a long-lasting penstyle battery would be fine, too.

From what I've read it here, it seems like an 801 or specifically the 801 in jantystick format would be perfect? Or would a mod be better?

Form factor really makes no difference to me, nor does portability, as it would only be for home use.

Thanks!

I am quite the penstyle aficionado (my favorite is the Joye 302). However, the Joye 510 might better fit your stated requirements: more vapor, cool vapor, good flavor, and less throat hit. Some of the U.S. suppliers with the least expensive Joye 510 starter kits are: Cignot, LiteCigUSA, Rocky Mountain Vapor, NHaler, Ecigsupply, The House of Vapor, and Awesome Vapor.

Most of them carry 510 PTs, but with inline batteries delivering ~3.7V, rather than ~5V from a true PT (such as from Electro-Nic-Stix for $15.)

Another approach, which is a bit more offbeat, is to take your proposed 801 system and use VG instead of PG e-liquid.

I had to do this because PG is too 'hot' for me, VG is smoother and cooler, to my taste at any rate. However this means you'll most likely need to look harder for your refill liquid, or mix your own flavors perhaps, as the range is smaller in VG.

For me, an 801 with VG is perfection - but nothing is as variable as taste, though, so it might not suit you! A penstyle 801 gives you slightly more battery life than the standard size ecig you presently have; a 3.7 volt / 801 mod will give you a touch more vapor and hugely improved battery life; and a 5 volt / 801 mod will give you massive vapor and good battery life. Nic strength and flavoring variation allows you to adjust the TH up or down.

Another tip is that some find the addition of peppermint oil or menthol flavor helps to cool the vape, and this seems to work out even for people who would never smoke menthol analogs (like me).
