People keep complaining that my mod smells like cigarette smoke

I am using a kayfun and Hana with fruity juices. My boss will no longer let me vape at work and my family tells me it smells like smoke.

I have never smelled e-cig vapor as a non-vaper, and while this could be a coincidence, I cannot clearly make a comparison between vaporized e-liquid and cigarette smoke. To me, as I am sure it is to many of you, is night and day. Regardless, the problem persists.

I am not running a burning wick, in fact the vapor smells obviously similar to the flavor.

Am I missing something? Perhaps its because I bumped my mod up several watts but it has all happened recently.

I suspect it's their associating the vapor with smoke, and if you are blowing bigger clouds at higher wattage, they are just reacting to that. Unless you're getting somewhat dry hits, I'm sure it doesn't smell anything like cigarettes.

Sounds ridiculous to me. Sounds like someone just doesnt want you to vape at work. Jealous smokers perhaps? Uneducated non-smokers? Or what I like to call Anti-everythings. Obviously it doesnt smell like smoke. It looks like smoke so someone is just making a judgement without having the actual experience.

Actually some e-liquids smell like cigars or cigarettes.

Folks including my wife and kids say mine has no smell whatsoever (unflavored and home brewed menthol)

However...when my daughter's fiance is here his vapes (Mountain Dew clone and some marlboro wanna-be both) smell exactly like tobacco smoke to me as well as my wife, son and daughter.

So...yes some do smell like tobacco

Well if the boss says you can't vape @ work, then so be it. However some educating may be in order, there's no way that a fruity juice can "smell like smoke". I've been told that some of the liquid I vape doesn't smell good but never like smoke, and I used to vape natural tobaccos.

I have first hand experience and can tell you that yes absolutely a fruity juice can smell exactly like tobacco smoke. "Mountain Dew" is a very fruity juice and as I posted above my daughters's fiance's vape smells to me exactly like tobacco smoke..kinda like cigarillos to be exact.

My wife never complains about my vaping, but will often comment that some of the sweet juices smell like I'm smoking pipe tobacco.

Disregard those that think it is ridiculous or vape-haters.

Maybe they are picking up on the destinct odor of nicotine.

hmmm... thats an odd one. in my limited experience,ive never had a juice smell like that. however nets often do not smell great. i have one net i vape that the fam doesnt love.. but most of my juice.. they love the smell of.

at work.. it was never really said if it was ok or not ok to vape. so i was doing so stealthily. one day one of my co-workers was like... who just baked fresh sugar cookies!!??!?!? WHO!?! i held up my mod and say.. guilty... her eyes light up and asks what flavor im vaping... i tell her.. and finish with.. it smells better than a damn yankee candle after i leave a room... my boss chuckled loudly... and its been ok ever since. when my boss sees my mod she always says...'that thing is so huge' and it takes a lot not to come back w/ a colorful one liner (pretty relaxed office staff here)

I've tried a few juices that were pretty rank as far as vapor odor is concerned, even some non-tobacco flavors were pretty bad. Had to vape those flavors when I was all alone in the house.

I suppose its all subjective. It can smell like roses to one person and smell like trash to the next person. Thats why we have a million brands and flavors of juice. Its different for everyone.

Having said that. I still dont believe a fruity juice or a Mt Dew juice smelled like smoke. Unless something in that juice has gone bad.

My boss specifically has said that the smell lingers. While I can't smell it, there is little to no ventilation in my office. It's probably 600 sq. feet and we each have an office. While I don't think it has the tar-iness that cigarettes might have, I am thinking it is probably the nicotine.

Latest juices under accusation - Hazelnut by Mt. Baker, Lemonem by Beantown, and Cr3am by a company I don't remember.

This didn't happen for the first 2 months I was doing it with a carto and then a kayfun. It only started happening when I got into dripping, my Lemo, and an IPV2. So now I pretty much screwed myself over, like you did probably, because I upped the wattage and vapor production. I tried to explain to him that I could go back to how I was doing it before but he seems turned off completely now.

So word of advice for anyone deciding to vape in their office - stick to tanks/cartos and keep it at about 12 watts or less. Once someone decides they don't like you doing it around them it's hard to convince them that it's because of recent equipment changes or anything like that.

I did the EXACT SAME THING! Screwed myself. If i had stuck to my nautilus at work it would have been fine. But no I had to drip at work.

My sister said vanilla custard smelled like cigarette smoke. I purposefully chose a liquid that I thought was mild and pleasant, but she said it smelled just like a cigarette.

My wife has only commented negatively to one cigar flavored juice. She said she kept looking for bad trash and new their shouldn't be any! She really loves the smell of my ITCVape banana berry dream and Zeus Straw Apple Lemonade. Her favorite though is Tobaccolicious by VaporFI.i agree with her that the cigar flavor really is not appealing to smell.

I use an EVOD tank at work to keep vapor to a minimum and only vape in my office with the door closed. I also vape juices with lighter more neutral scents. No big clouds no problems.
