i remember when crystal pepsi came out. that snl spoof was hysterical but i don't think it had anything to do with the products failure. it just didn't look like cola so it was weird to drink it.

we didn't have all these choices they have today. energy drinks and flavored waters. the drink aisle in the supermarket goes on forever now. we had pepsi or coke or 7up. and crystal pepsi looked exactly like 7up. i remember friends remarking that they should put the color in it and it would probably sell. i don't remember it tasting bad.
maybe we just weren't ready for clear cola. lol

imagine the best cup of coffee you ever tasted, now imagine it crystal clear?
the taste can be exactly the same but the experience is now changed. because your eyes are telling you it's something else. that's what the snl spoof did with the gravy. it still makes me whince when i see that clear gel flowing over the mashed potatoes. lol

Bring back the coke with coffee in it!!!! I think the only reason that tanked was because of the tiny bottle.

Pepsi is going to need to do something to bring people back, after their descision to follow allah, they have lost a lot of business. Their shelving space in Kroger keeps diminishing everytime I walk on by to grab my 20 pack of coke!

I agree with CandyGirl about the appearance making a difference. And speaking of candy, anyone ever get that multi-colored carnival taffy that is real thin and comes in a wax paper wrapper? I swear the red tastes best, but I saw on Food Network that it is all the same flavor. No way.

Does Heinz still sell green ketchup? My son had to have some. It does not taste right. My girlfriend says it does to. To avoid argument, I am wrong. No way!

Crystal Pepsi was nasty. Then too, maybe I'm wrong. No way.

i'm secretly hoping they bring it back, if only for a little while. (nostalgia) like black jack/beeman's/teaberry gum. who knows, it may take off.
i remember my brother getting a case of those little bottles of coke~cola years back. i know it's the same stuff, but it tastes soooo much better in that little bottle.

I think in that case it depends who makes it. At the state fair here in IA there was always this place that made _excellent_ taffy. The red was my favorite too, and it was cherry and labeled as such. I also liked the vanilla. They sold them separately though, you had to choose which one you wanted. It's entirely possible that the multicolored bag stuff is all the same. Kinda like froot loops.
