On the hunt for the perfect tank for the P3 when it comes out. I have an authentic Kayfun, and I have terrible luck with it. I owned a Russian 91% a few months back and had about the same experience. I'm not looking for advice on building the Kayfun, and I may sell it later on depending on how things go.

I'm a hardcore Reonaut. I always return to the Reo and I've owned gennies, kayfuns clearos etc. I run a modded Trident V2 on my Reo and it works very well.

I spotted the pontus today and looked up some reviews on it and they seem real solid. What I'm worried about is if the 20 watts will be able to appropriately power it, depending on my build. I plan on using something like a 1 ohm dual 30 gauge build, or 28 gauge and see how it goes. I can't imagine running 26 gauge with dual coils on the P3, because I firmly believe it will take forever to spool up. I know the pontus is adjustable airflow and I love the concept of being able to shoot juice into the drip well, just like on my Reo.

So what do you guys think? anyone else own a pontus and use it on a regulated mod? I'm sure I could get a crazy vape if I threw it on one of my mechs at 0.3 ohms, but I'm very optimistic about this one, being that the Reo has been good to me, and I feel like the concept of this will offer similar results. I use 100% VG juice, or very close to it, which by my understanding works very well with the Pontus. I ordered the V 1.5, but I hear about a V2 in the works. Anyone know where to find it?

I have a Pontus V1 with exactly the build you are thinking about, a 30 gauge dual at 1 Ohms. For me it's worked pretty good, the flavor and vapor production are more like a RTA than a RDA. It's easy to build on and the dripping function has worked well with 50/50 juice.

Some tips if you decide to get a Pontus...

Lube the o-rings with e-liquid before putting the glass on, especially the o-ring at the top on the section that moves. This will ensure it operates smoothly.
Higher Ohm builds (.8 and up) have seemed to work better for me and produce better flavor, YMMV.
When I squonk my single juice hole V1, I tilt the Pontus slightly back with the juice hole down for a second or two. One complaint is gurgling which is just the juice hanging out at the top.
Place a little bit of the wicks on top of the AFC tabs. This helps suck the juice down into the base and keep it away from the airholes. (see pic below)

The Pontus is not without it's idiosyncrasies but all in all I'm very happy with mine!

I'm holding out for a ZAP with P3 threading...
I'm definitely waiting to see something like that too. Honestly though when zen did the zen atty, I believe kayfuns either didn't exist, or hadn't gone mainstream yet. Genesis attys were far more popular back then and they're a dying breed now. Don't get me wrong, I used a Pyrex rsst for months before I got my reo and it was very good, but nothing like drippers and well built kayfuns.

I wouldn't be surprised if zen was doing his version of a kayfun. The z-fun!

That however, is all speculation though. Time will tell

Rumor has it that Provape is working on their own tank. No details available that I'm aware of.
If provape is making a tank, I can assume we can expect the same fantastic performance as we get from the provari. Imagine how much research and testing they're probably putting into it. That excites me haha, but I think the pontus is going to do great

Yep,Erlkoenigin all the way.
Looked into it and wasn't super thrilled. I don't like poly tanks, and don't like having to get an exact precise build and just the right amount and positioning of wicks. Drippers only go awry if they dry out or are juiced up too much, and I like being in control of that, rather than relying on a vacuum effect to do the work. The erklogin (can't spell it and using tapatalk) had a fairly high price point too, and I already dropped 180 bucks into the kayfun. I got the Pyrex and top fill kit for it, and I'm still debating if I want to keep it around or not

Since I got my Erlkonigin my Kayfun has been gathering dust. It will probably be sold soon. The Erlkonigin has a way better draw. The build is actually way easier than my Kayfun with better results. I put all sorts of tank cracker juices in their poly tank without issues. I have a stainless tank if I need it. IBTanked sells glass Erlkonigin tanks for it cheap. I totally get the money thing. I really wasn't sure myself at the price point, but I have been super happy with it. Money well spent. I have RDAs too. I use them at home sometimes, but I am looking into a REO to get some bottom fed hassle free dripping. Best of luck on finding the right set up for yourself. It is a journey.

Oh the reo with the trident is more or less my "self actualized" vaping setup, I don't think I'll ever find anything that will satisfy me more. I had a provari v 2.5 before the reo, and actually sold it to fund the reo. Shortly after that, pbusardo released his video of his tour to provape, and while I don't regret buying the reo in the slightest, I do regret selling my provari.

So I've been holding out for the p3 pretty much since I bought and sold the 2.5. I have a high regard for provape, and the p3 has been a planned expense for a long time. For me, it's just about having a setup that is simple, reliable, and a solid performer like the reo. The pontus seems like it may fit the bill, but we'll see.

I like the looks of the erlkonigin alot, but the pontus is alot more my style. Dripping without dripping is so appealing because we all know that dripping is really the purest, most unadulterated form of vaping. Unbeatable flavor and vapor, but it's just a matter of getting around the hassle of actually dripping.

I really think that these new pontus style tanks are going to become very mainstream soon and there's going to be some new and exciting variations of them in the future

We have similar tastes. I have a Provari mini among other things. The error codes on it bug me though. I know the P3 they changed the error code system. A P3 would be nice. I am a Provari fan myself. Currently vaping on my RDNA. Interested to see the P3 release. You might check out the big dripper too. I am looking heavily at the squape reloaded as well. Things are evolving rapidly with vaping. It is fun to follow.

I checked out the big dripper and haven't heard real great things compared to the pontus. The price on the authentic is a con as well. But yeah it's definitely cool to watch the evolution

Haha and don't even start with me on those error codes. I used to build an 11 wrap 28 gauge micro coil on ss mesh for my rsst and had to pulse it out on the provari. I literally had a tenth of a second to spot the short before it threw the error code. I used to blow through an entire 18490 just pulsing the shorts out of the coil before I could actually vape it.

I went through three 18490s a day when I had that rsst. 2.4 ohms at 6 volts and it was a dang champ

I've thought about the Pontus, but I worry about the longevity of the spring that makes it work(and it's enormous but besides the point). I know how fast the spring in my Nemesis switch has weakened...

The spring on a Pontus only compresses maybe 1 to 2 mm at most and it feels really strong and solid. I doubt it will wear out anytime soon. As for the size, it is exactly the same height as my EHPro Kayfun Lite. I think it just looks bigger because it's 22 mm top to bottom.

Yeah it definitely doesn't look like an ugly monster, I actually really like the looks of it. Decent capacity, and that spring seems like it could be easily replaced, and any wear on where the mechanism is being used can be lubricated, and I have metal polish in a worst case scenario. Probably won't go that far though

I also just ordered a big dripper clone on eBay. I hear some people love the pontus and some love the big dripper, even the clone. The big dripper was like 32 bucks, so I figured why not? I don't care for the looks as much, but if it performs better, I could care less. It'll still look great on the p3, and the functionality and performance absolutely have to be there for such a highly anticipated device. Right now I'm just trying to get a great tank and a great build and I've been using them on my cana dna30, just limiting myself to 20 watts
