Hi there ... I'm just like your wife. Picky about form factor (has to be small) and definitely not a box mod. Lightweight, pocketable, and definitely no messing with parts or adjustments. And colors are great.

If that's your wife, here's what I like:

innokin endura t18 to start with. This should allow her to quit without her feeling too dorky. They have some nice colors, lightweight, no messing with coils (other than popping them in and out when needed), and no settings to mess with. Later, when she moves on to something else, the Endura is still the perfect one to use when out and about. Easily travels in purse or pocket.

I've recently moved on to a Provari mini with a Kayfun mini V3. It's heavier, but such a great vape that I deal with it. You could build her coils for the Kayfun. It has settings, but I just set and forget. They come in colors too.

Those are my recommendations. Good luck, and you're a good guy for trying so hard to come up with the right thing for her. :D

You described her to "T". And I needed some guidance, I didn't want to mess it up. I have been using the mechanical REO for so long I am out of touch with newer stuff. For weight and size, I took the spacer ring out of the P3 and used a 490 battery. Following the suggestions of some others here, I made a 1.6 coil and set the Watts at 10. She then adjusted it to her liking, this may work!

I wasn't familiar with the Squape, so I googled it. It's bigger than I'd like myself, but it's classy looking, for sure!

My husband is like you, and tried for months to find the right RTA for me. He hated that I was using something that didn't have replaceable batteries, and prebuilt coils (Endura). I was happy with it though, so quietly he kept looking for something small (very important for me) that would work well with a Provari mini.

When I lost two Enduras within a couple of days of each other (batteries worn out), and I was mad at them, he was ready with the Kayfun mini v3 and the Provari mini (he's a good guy too). I love the form factor, and the vape quality is awesome. He builds the coils and wicks them for me, so what's not to like? :D

Tell your wife, good luck!

Weight is a concern for her, I will look into the CE and Pico. She really doesn't want to mess with stuff, that is more my thing.
Thanks again
The Pico is really cute and small she may like it and you can get her a sleeve to go with it to protect it. They are priced right :)

T18 is great for out and about, it is all I use now for travel and easy! A coil lasts me 8 wks, but they aren't rebuildable at least I haven't found anyone that figured that out yet :) The tanks work on a provari too.

That's right ... I've used the T18 tanks on the Provari. They work well.

The newer stuff is easy since you already know basics. SS wire seems to be popular and easy to get. Use steam to calculate the ohms and wind, no special tools needed. You can even get SS clapton spools now.

Cooler vape with less sag will always be at the higher end with most being up to 1.5 in TC or 1ohm on others.. Wick with cotton and everything else is the same. Heck I have wicked with cotton balls and I bet you could use toilet paper if you had to! Rewick every 1-2 weeks with a dry burn and thats about it.

She wont get a dry hit even if you mess up the wick as TC will kick in.

Personally, im not fond of prebuilt/replaceable heads or coils. 1 or 2 out of a 5 pack might be a bit meh and I end up popping another in and recoiling the bad one when I have time. YMMV.

I just ordered a pico from GB for $23, and a 2nd goblin v2 copy from FT for like $10. I have never owned 2 of the same tank so that says a lot. they are under 30mm high excluding tip so wont hold a lot of juice. The only drawback with the goblin V1/2 is they can spit back under the tank in the AFC since its so close. Next coil I build I will mount higher and hopefully reduce it. The ver 3 fixes some of that but I just unscrew and wipe off every other tank. Fingers crossed I dont get a pico that chews through batteries but GB have been good with warranty and offer 12 months.

If the mod you are using is VV/VW, try a 2.5-3ohm coil after a week and adjust your nic/flavor to suit. Or just use the same juice and turn the volts/watts down which will give the same as the 1.6 but with better run time.
