Ok! It's been awhile and I wanted to do some maintenance on my ProVari. I thought that I read in a thread somewhere that ProVape recommended using alcohol and a Q-Tip to clean out the atomizer connection; however I can’t seem to find the tread again. Is that all I really need to do, I mean does that get all the juice out of there so it looks like new again? It just seems like it would take more to get between the center pin and the threads. Like a tissue wrapped around a dental pick or something.

Is the threaded inside part of the ProVari sealed off from the inside. Meaning if alcohol pools up inside were the threads are, will it leak into were the electronic are.

I just wanted to get enough in there to soak the dirt up and then blow it out lightly with the air nozzle on my air compressor. Also, I’m wondering if blowing it out with air would cause any damage.

Has anyone used a can of air or used an air compressor to lightly blow out the inside of their ProVari were the batteries go. Would this even be necessary? I don’t want to get any dirt under the viewing window.

Has anyone tried any of this?

What’s your method of clean the atomizer connector on your ProVari.

Please post information on how you perform maintenance on your ProVari, along with any other tips or tricks you use to clean your ProVari. I would also like read what you did with, or to your ProVari that you’ll never do again and why.

I’ll throw one more question out there just for the fun of it! However, I would not do this or advise anyone else to do it either.

Has anyone taken their ProVari apart, and if so why?

TIA!

BTW Post any Pictures and/or Videos too!

This thread may turn out to be a waste, as ProVape may have created the "Maytag" of PV's.

I haven't had to do anything to mine and I've had mine for two months now. How about you?

I'm going tomorrow to get some Noalox for the threads, but I've done no maintenance other than cleaning up the occasional juice dribble. I've had mine since late December/early January (I have two). I don't think I'd blow it out with an air compressor, that PCB looks fairly thin. Canned air shouldn't hurt anything, but I'd make sure I blew it in gently. If you spray that too fast it acts like a quick freeze, and you could get condensation on the electronics.

Thanks ScottinSoCal!

Yeah, I just ordered a bunch of stuff from ProVape and added the Noalox that they have available on their web site to my order. It may be in with the mail tomorrow.

I'm out of canned air at the moment, I figured if I turned the air pressure down really low on my air compressor I could get by with blowing the atomizer connector area out with it.

What I'm really after is to find out if the threaded atomizer section is sealed from the inside of the ProVari. It can't be one piece, so there must be a non-conductive bushing or some other thing that separates the center pin piece from the other threaded part. I just thought I would clean it out with a Q-Tip with some alcohol on it, then put a couple of drops of alcohol in the atomizer connector and swish it around a bit and then hit it with some air to dry it up.

We'll I'm not taking any chance until I get more information. So I guess some alcohol on a Q-Tip will be it then, for now.

Thanks again.

Cleaning is highly recommended every couple of weeks. That is really the only maintenance needed.

Here are some suggestions:

Remove the battery and look down in the tube. There is a contact pin that the battery positive mates with. This should be clean. Sometimes it turns black from dirt and grime transferred from the battery. A long Q-tip with 99% isopropyl alcohol and you can reach down in and wipe the contact clean. Also clean your battery negative and positive and charger contacts.

You can also use the Isopropyl to clean the top atomizer area. You probably noticed from old juice that the center pin turns black. You can lightly scrape this off with a flat blade screw driver then use the isopropyl to clean the rest off. A toothpick would probably also work to scrape the old juice off.

Clean out the area where the spring sits. You can pull out the spring and clean that pocket then reinstall the spring.

Lastly, clean out the threads on the end cap and tube to make sure they are clean. That should make sure all your connections are solid :)
