First off let me just say I have been vaping for 1 month and have been analog free for that time. My taste is just starting to change. Plus I like spicy foods and strong flavors. There is not a juice I have tried that was too strong in flavor (except Cinnimon Red Hots). So take this for what it's worth.

I really like the PA flavors. That is the vast majority of my mixing supplies, but I do have a couple of other things from other vendors so that is noted.

I just started DIY last weekend and did some again today.

Today I just mixed a few samples. I am just doing 2ml samples 80/20 PG/VG at 10mg as a base (1.6 ml) and add 20% flavoring (.4 ml).

I did the peppermint. Used the 100% (PA) peppermint and added 2 drops (1 per ml) Eythol Maltol Sweetner (from DIY FlavorShack) to it. It was tasty, like a candy cane. Not overpowering peppermint.

Also did a Lemon/Lime, 75% (PA) Lemon and 25% (L) Lime Oil, since oil is stronger, then added 2 drops (DIYFS) Eythol Maltol. Not bad, it's refreshing, but the lime slightly stands out. I may adjust a bit, but I kinda like it.

Also did a Banana Cream Pound Cake. 80% (PA) Banana Cream and 20% (DIYFS) Pound Cake. Not the Banana flavor I was going for, but not bad. I think I will have to try the Ripe Banana flavor next time.

Did a 100% (PA) French Vanilla and a 100% (PA) Bavarian Cream. I liked them but it was not tripping my trigger. Vanilla was very light in taste and Bavarian Cream a bit heavy. I'd mix them, but I think the Bavarian Cream would overpower the Vanilla.

I heard the Vanilla Custard was real good. I am going to have to get that.

I need to let them set a few days and try them again. Chances are the taste will change a bit.

If anyone has a recipe for a good lemon/lime (for a light refreshing vape) or a vanilla sugar cookie (for the smell) please pass it along.

Like redgirl and msroulette, I found a new hobby. I just have to find my sweet spot.

Keep experimenting like a mad scientist and enjoy the journey,
Jim

I got chocolate, milk chocolate (OMG I can taste chocolate vape with PA!!), hazelnut, cheesecake, graham cracker, sweetener, ripe banana, jamaican rum, and brown sugar. I mixed up a chocolate hazelnut cheesecake, first try was incredible! The ripe banana is out of this world, and now I look forward to adding graham cracker to it and making banana creme pie. I am also going to attempt a bananas foster.

This is unreal! I just ordered 500ml of unflavored nic so I can keep going!

I love the graham cracker. Haven't tried the brown sugar yet, though. My favorite of theirs is the pear. I wish Capella's weren't so expensive because I really like their stuff.

I've made it a rule that I always test any flavor out at 10% mixed with VG first. If that's too strong, I mix it down to 5% and try it again. If it's not strong enough, I bump it up and keep trying it until I find the strength it needs to be. I make a 10ml bottle of it and then use that to mix with other flavors later.

I've only done that with the Caramel Capuccino, but that was because it literally smelled up our entire apartment and I didn't happen to have a glass jar handy.

more excellent tips LG. thank you! the cappu had to be ditched. it ruined my juice mix. that's a great tip about the flavors and VG. no waste until you get one flavor just how you like it. Linda even mentioned about 1 part to 9 parts to cut the strong ones. I need to do that.

I'll give the honey a try mixed. If it's still too flowery, it's available along with a few others that I'll never use, to anyone that likes them.

i tried the waffle, w/graham cracker , caramel, and maple and it is great! you were so right guys about the waffle and GC. :D i bet if i added DK tobacco base, I'd have my RY4.

i need to order some vanilla custard. Once i get my perfect vape i can load up on PA supplies. I have a few chinese vanillas about 6 months old and they're pretty flowery.

 see i already forgot! vape it don't smell it lol

Just what I've gotten around to so far

Black Cherry - WoW very strong and have to be careful about adding to much as it will start to overwhelm you and turn more cough syrup then cherry.

Green Apple - Just like a green apple jolly rancher love it

Blueberry Extra - This is a tough one cant seem to get the flavors out of it no matter how much flavoring I add this one will have to remain in experimental.

Menthol - Clean and fresh nothing like candy just pure menthol goodness

Kiwi - ( This was just a sample ) Another strong one has that candy like taste but cant figure out which candy it taste likes, very good though.

Tobacco - Eh this is not what I was expecting maybe after a couple more days of it sitting Ill try again but definitely needs to be mixed with something strong to take away the perfumey taste.

Cheesecake - This is a odd one it smells very buttery but when you vape it has a almost creamy taste which would make sense. Definitely needs to be mixed with some complementing flavorers.

Nothing crazy for review wise but just wanted to throw something out there

Thanks for the reviews! I think we all agree that Perfumers Apprentice totally got the Jolly Rancher thing right with this Green Apple flavor. :D

Let me know what you think of it when mixed. It brings me right back to my childhood when we used to eat honeycombs (well, not actually eat them, but chew on them for a while).

No idea about the RY4, but I did also add caramel and maple to my Graham Cracker/Waffle mix and OMG is that good! If vaping was fattening, I would have exploded by now.

LOL - it looks like you're in for some good times with trying out different flavors. Those vanillas sound wonderful! :)

Well I just got in my nic juice so I was able to start messing around with DIY flavorings. I got some freebie samples along with my order from PA, one of which was Absinthe. I chased the green fairy long before I started vaping and I have to say I really liked this one! I received a 1.5ml sample which was perfect for mixing up a 10ml batch. I know I should start with smaller batches but I didn't have anything smaller and I like Absinthe anyway :p Long story short, it tastes great and even has that little tingle on the tongue afterward. I hope this goes into production as I can see this as something I'd order and savor! I haven't tried the jalapeno or MJ yet so I can't comment on those yet. I'll probably make small batches of those first ;)

Just tried out MJ @ 20%.
Kind of like smoking your x-mas tree.
I'll leave it alone for a few days and try again.
By then maybe I can think up what it needs for a boost.
Perhaps a hint of DK Tab or 555.
Needs a lil more smoke flavor.
Waited a whole 10 min from mix to vape so just a start.
My 1st DIY attempt so not a lot to fall back on,
However I do know what I like,
So I got that going for me!
Maybe a little malt or G/cracker to soften the pine flavor.
Hmm more research is in order here.
I'll let you know if I get it figured out.(any better than a pine tree)
That's been mixed with a smokey,malted,graham cracker.
Oh boy what am I getting myself into?

I would suggest using just a little in a mostly tobacco mix to add a freshness and an extra complexity.

I haven't tried the following, only seen it done many times: In Amsterdam a favored way of smoking the real thing is to mix it with tobacco in a hand rolled cigarette. Since the tobacco won't do anything for the effect, I imagine they're doing it for the taste.

I hope you get a good mix. If you can please post back sometime and let us know how it goes. You'll probably be helping out a lot of people.

I will. (kind of a slow tester, but will report back!)

Hi Zelda, re DK Tobacco base & 555:
The good news (for me at least): I no longer like tobacco-ish flavors at all.

Other news: I had a leftover 555 carto that I used to like and that helped me quit a long time ago (about a month and a half!) and I didn't like it either, at all. (Same for a leftover RY4 carto - puy puy!)

But - I didn't like the 555 in almost the same way I didn't like the PA DK base so... I think that is good news for 555 fans. Never did any mixing with it, but Linda's base is definitely in the ballpark.

Just started experimenting! Made up samples of stand-alone caramel and dulce de leche @10% flavor as well as a coconut/bavarian mix in a 16 mg 80/20 base. Pretty much like the flavor on the inhale but the exhale seems almost "dry"? Tried a coconut/bavarian mix and that doesn't seem to be quite as dry? Do you think it is the creaminess that takes away the "dryness" for me?
I appreciate all of the information everyone has shared in this forum!

What is everyone doing to the PA DK tobacco to make it 555? I love 555 but this is nothing even close to it. What am I doing wrong?

I have no idea! Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression - I was going to try combining PA base with hazelnut flavor to get to 555, but I never did since all the tobacco-ish stuff tastes the same (bad) to me now... Good luck though!

Good luck making a 555 out of this stuff, or anything else for that matter, it seems to have a bit of everything going on all at the same time, excluding anything to do with tobacco, soon as I opened the bottle and had a sniff I knew it was a waste of time and money..

Likewise for the RY4, not even in the same state as the ball park....And let's see now, YOU were the one that said it tasted like Kanger RY4, were you freakin drunk that night or what!!!!!!!

I'm done,

Next stop Health cabin.

It's possible. Everyone experiences flavors and mixtures differently, and also the ingredients used can change how your eliquid behaves/presents itself to you. To complicate things even further, we experience our mixtures differently on different days. :D

Ya, I just ordered HC 555 also. The RY4 I tasted in a trial before it was changed, tasted like MFS RY4. Not that I'm an expert, don't even vape it anymore. Hopefully, the HC will be as good as I've heard.
Just to be clear, while PA's tobacco flavors miss the mark for some, the rest of her flavors are top of the line, and her service is also top notch. I'm confident she'll have some good tobacco flavors sooner or later.
