Hi all,

I'm new to vaping. I was never a cigarette smoker but an occasional cigar & hookah smoker. I just got into vaping solely for the enjoyment & relaxation. I'm vaping a 0 inc juice with an iStick 30 and a Kanger Nano sub tank. I've acquired a persistent cough for the past week or two that I can't seem to shake. Can anyone give me some input on this?
Thanks

This is from that page - may be useful or not.....

PG is a humectant (attracts, ie 'sucks out' water) and when vaping the back of the throat gets coated. You can find that after sleeping, you wake up with a sore throat. Things that can help are drinking a glass of water before bed, gargling with a mouthwash to cut the PG coating before bed, drinking water throughout the day, using hard candies and drinking liquids with honey liquid through the day to keep your mouth moist - especially if you are a new user.

An alternative for those who experience more throat dryness than normal is to change to a VG-based e-liquid, which normally solves the problem. It is thought that >1 in 100 but <1 in 10 suffer from PG-induced throat soreness after the initial period of acclimatisation. This is why asthma inhalers are gradually moving away from PG as the excipient, to glycerine. The availability of virtually pure synthetic glycerine has probably helped this move.

Thank you Shirtbloke but I was really never a tobacco smoker. I was an occasional cigar smoker but never inhaled. I hear it's quite common for a cigarette smoker who is changing over to vaping to acquire a cough.
Technically you did, a hookah is a form of flavored tobacco. Well, only about 30% tobacco and the rest of some sort of flavoring.

I second the what device you use and pg/vg ratio. I cough more with higher pg levels. So I normally vape 70vg/30pg

I was primarily vaping from an iStick 30 @ around 20 watts with a Kanger Nano 1.2 coil, air flow wide open. I'm using a 30 pg/70vg 0 nic juice by Coval Vapes. When I vape off of the iStick mini, I have it set to the max 5 volts with the GS16s tank. I also notice that my mouth gets very dry while vaping but no sore throat.

I am going to have to go with Elvis hope everything works out for you

Vape on Live on :toast:

Some folks just can't / shouldn't vape.
It may be the pg or vg or flavoring(s) or might be seasonal allergies or something else.
Never ignore what your body tells you, persistent cough is never a good thing, one that lasts a week or two = go see a Dr.
