sorry if wrong forum. I just bought a petri v2 ss rda about a month ago. I had like maybe 2 builds on it and one of the posts is already stripped.

I went to tighten my coils with the Included tool because I noticed it was loose and it just wouldn't tighten. When I took the build out to try and tighten the little screw again, it fell through the post and got stuck. I contacted dotmod, they said the post Is probably stripped (like I thought) and the best they can do is give me 50% off a new rda. To me, that's bs. I paid 95$cdn for an rda with a stripped post? I was so gentle on tightening there's no way I caused it. Never had this happen before. Anyone have advice? Is there anything I can do or am I just pooched?

If they said 50% off on a new one, not much you can do.

I know you don't want to hear about it, but they do make a postless RTA..

Yeah, I'll be taking the offer so I'm not stuck looking at the topcap anymore lol. And about the postless rta, I have a cosmonaut coming next week. Thanks for reply

I had to look up dotmod and the rda. First thing you can do, is take it to a local machine shop or small mom n pop automotive shop to see about re-tapping the holes. Hell, you could probably just buy a tap and die set at Canadian Tire or Walmart.
Next you can find them on facebook (I assume) and give them hell, and how you will never buy or recommend another dotmod product, and comment about how they are poorly made with to soft metal in the reviewers comments.
Now if it were me, I would take my 50% and pay to have it re-tapped, and let them know you will never buy from their company again.

Yeah, I got that. What I was saying, you might be better off getting the one you have tapped. (re-threaded) and tell the vendor to go....
I had a problem with my Tsunami, the positive pin broke off under the insulator, so the positive post was not attached. I emailed them and they send me a new pin, no charge, and they paid the shipping. It's one of my fav rdas. Great for flavor builds.
I would have an issue with giving more money to a company that didn't stand behind their product and screwed me once. I mean, used twice and the post thread stripped from using that tiny blue screwdriver? If I were dotmod, I would just replace the RDA, call it a flaw in the metal, and continue with a happy customer.

"If it were up to me, I'd take my 50% and pay to have it re-tapped..."

Your quote,
You don't get ANYTHING..
NO, but the OP would have to PAY 50% of the cost out of their own money again for something that was faulty to begin with, to buy a replacement of the same item. So 47.50 + tax vs maybe $5 cash for a mechanic or metal worker to spend 3 minutes tapping new threads. I don't know what part of that you found difficult to grasp.

Because unless I misread, why accept a 50% off your next purchase when you would never order from the company again? Retapping might be an option, but you're still not being made whole by accepting a discount you'll never use.

Curious. Was it the positive post that was stripped? Maybe you can just unscrew it from the base and replace with a *gasp* post from a clone.

But then it wouldn't be a legitimate matchy matchy.

I would give that a shot or tapping it out before tossing it out. I would also still be pretty ...... at the whole thing. But you raise an interesting point. If it was the positive post, why can't dotmod send a replacement?

Welcome and glad you joined. Sorry to hear about your problem. Not much you can do unless you happen to be a machinist or have a good mechanical engineering grasp of the problem. ECF has a classified section where you could sell it "as is": How To Become A Verified Member

Thanks guys, May just sell it then.I did give dotmod some hell when I emailed them, pretty ...... but I'm probly gonna let it go.

Also, terrible picture, but the post on the right is the stripped one. And that screw that's in there, is that to take out the post itself? Thanks again

If you get yourself a torx driver...that looks like 3mm, you can take it apart and fish the post screw out.

Everyone should have one of these sets...makes life a little less complicated. :) I got mine on sale even...it was like $5 US shipped.

31 in 1 Screwdriver Set Phillips Torx Star Slotted Hex Key Bit
That is a good looking set at a great price.
Once everyone has a Torx set, manufacturers will go with Snake Eye security fasteners..

Yeah, I have an Amazon set too lol.

I tinker on more than just vapes, and a Youtuber (Bigclivedotcom) got me turned on to banggood.com. They ship really fast compared to slowtech, and have some really good deals. (nothing vape related sadly, other than screwdrivers you can use to wrap coils...maybe an inexpensive cordless drill and other tools)

I've not read the entire thread but as far as I'm concerned the maker should replace the RDA. If they are too lazy/greedy/arrogant then the community of ECF should boycott them until it's cost the company MORE than replacing the item. It's called voting with your wallet. It's a simple theory. You support your brother/sister by causing an exponential cost to a greedy retailer/brand. I've been doing this stuff for 20 years. It never fails.
